Most other places I’ve raced can’t get the track right for the first few weeks they are open. So, not sure how wise it would be to only be open for a few weeks before Hambo.

Happy to see that the Meadowlands received its first annual Sports Betting license this week. Unhappy to hear that the facility may not open during the spring even armed with anticipated increased revenue it may be overwhelmed by from its new sports betting venture.
Speedy passage of legislation on this new venture inures a benefit to the track operator at the expense of the horsemen. Monmouth horsemen may indeed fare better and were well paced to go almost on day one. Sorry to point all this out.
In NY we will continue working with our thoroughbred brethren to get a piece of any sports betting put into legislation done on track or at track operated or race wagering facilities. In order to redirect your focus, now the blame game for no improvement in current racing conditions, where sports betting is approved, will be directed to government’s refusal to put more money in the track operators pocket.. Many would be pleased if you didn’t think about such problems facing your future.

It's still laughable that some still view this as a battle of who runs their end of this business better. It's never had anything to do with that at all; slot subsidy vs. no slot subsidy is the only driver here, always has been, always will be. Gural isn't a visionary, we all know that's been proven, but had the Big M had slot subsidy access, this would never in a million years have been a discussion. Yonkers will always be a cesspool no matter what, who when racing Tuesday afternoons not to long against Monticello, couldn't even out handle that dump with their shit product of $2k claimers. Level the playing field, and these sort of discussions don't occur. Don't get me wrong, Gural is no answer to the woes of anything harness related, having time and time again proven this, but this has never been about him vs. Faraldo, or who operates their better business. Welfare support, plain and simple.

Most of you should be happy, most of you want LESS RACING AND LESS TRACKS,I am the one that is for MORE RACING AND MORE TRACKS! No excuses accepted

I'm confused why people think sports betting will help harness racing. Margins to make money are mi iscupe the only additional money would be from people having to bet on site and throw a couple bucks on horses while they are there. This is debunked thpugh because tracks with casinos have not seen drastic increases in handle. Can somebody please explain

I don't think anyone is happy to see the meadowlands reduce racing opportunities, however to get rid of Jeff Gural from its ownership seat is a great reason to celebrate and a goal to attempt to attain

Jeff wants to build up horsemens acct by racing less days.Between all the monies from sports betting & simulcast revenues when they open back up after spring break they will be racing for $15,000 min purse.
-
Purses (horsemen), are not getting a dime from sports betting.
-
yonkers should send their slot money over to the meadowlands and close that shithole yonkers down
Don't worry, MGM doesn't want to run a racetrack.
-
Lets see the official dates as they have not even gone to the commission yet for 2019 dates .
-
This will be very interesting

It is you who needs to learn, a racing season is broken down into meetings, The championship meet, started May 4th and runs until Hambletonian day. The winter meet starts January 1 (actually it starts after Xmas the year before) and ends late February. Then the "Spring meet" goes March and April. Usually you can tell when a 'meet' ends because they usually have a mandatory payoff on their carryover pools. You owe the NJ horseman an apology

Well, now.
When you have to put words in quotation marks, i.e., "xxx xxx, " or within apostrophes, 'xxx xxx,' you are fairly confirmed a dolt.
That aside, please expound on why the "Spring" meet that starts in Winter is called the "Spring" meet.
I think that's the key to solving the whole puzzle.
I really do.

so they are going to race in jan and feb and close in march and april when the weather is better. that's all i wanted to know. it makes no sense but i do get it and am wrong of course although you would think business would be better if they killed the winter meet and retained the spring meet for continuity into their "heralded championship meet" which currently they have to beg the worst drivers in the country to come there and drive. i know, when the big purse stake races begin the good ones will return. but tonite for example, yukk.

No Pennsylvania ( Pocono/harrahs) tracks open in Jan Feb and March means more horses available to card more races , bigger fields bigger handle. Only half mile Yonkers to race against. I guess smart asses like you don't think about that. That makes all the sense that is needed

SPRING HAS SPRUNG, HOW MANY OF YOU OXYGEN STARVED OLD FUCKS GONNA BE AROUND NEXT SPRING ANYWAYS?

What about oct/nov/dec ??

actually i did take that into consideration. run when no one else is or at a time when no one else is. good business model. this will hurt the michael polio's, the joe (irish) hanney's, the inept merton's and the others who thought they were called up to the major leagues to drive. makes perfect sense to do this. without slots they will sink even further into oblivion.
