When Cat Manzi sat with the out rider it was a signal that he wasn't going to win. This was at 1-1 or less. 100% when I was watching for many years.

Somebody up here in toronto told me about william wellwood warm up at greenwood....depe nding on which way he turned horse at the end of a couple of warmup laps, binoculars guy in grandstand moved accordingly

When the race is dirty, it`s already decided who is placing the bets. Half the time they leave somebody out who beats them out of the # anyways. I remember a race years ago at Pocono when W Mitchell beat out a sure tri with Treboh Joe( losingest horse in history) when he finished 3rd! 4 guys were dead and they left Willie out and he scorched them!
