Trick question. Way too many variables. Really comes down to inside knowledge of your horses health etc and being able to predict which direction he is going

IF YOU GET A FAIR PRICE IT DONT MATTER

We had a stakes placed, Meadowlands late closer winner who we knew was shot by the end of his four year old season. We put him in the January sale and got 60,000 because he had somewhat of a name. He never raced again. ngc3 ngc3 ngc3

Fair enough. But he did have stud value as his breeding was a Golden Cross at the time. He even had babies

I think it was back in 2010 or 2011 I was acquainted with a fellow owner who had a top prospect 3 year old trotter and looked like a good Hambo prospect as he was racing great in January .. He was offered $350k by the Swedes after winning a race at The Meadowlands.. He turned it down as his dream like all of us was to win the Hambo.. Needless to say the horse started making breaks and never materialized into anything more than a cheap non winner at Freehold . I’m sure this owner always regretted not selling..
