i see when i get back to maine cumberland is adding a pick 6 and pentafecta. with no handle why bother adding more wagers to further dillute pools. pick 5 was lucky to hit 500 and supers were the same. im not playing.
anyone at the past weekend qualifiers? wondering if the boat show was still in the grandstand? any running water in the grandstand? bathrooms? no tresspassing signs installed? road and parking lot paved? clubhouse open?
on a good note the purses look better so hope all racing have a great season. looked like pleanty of horses ready to go.

Lol it will never happen with out sports betting. Is anyone still talking about a new track?
-
It looks like sports betting is going to happen here in Maine. I'm hoping that once the legislature approves it, the investors who have been talking of bringing a new small facility will get it done.
-
In correct. The way the idiot Governor wrote the Bill, 90% of the sports betting goes to the Indians. The OTB’s and tracks get screwed. Natives to get 100% of theon line revenue... leaves almost nothing for the rest.... sad... but typical of this woman. Bring back Paul Lepage y’all!!!

THEY WERE HERE BEFORE HORSEMEN, YOU TOOK THEIR PROPERTIES

First Tracks must have some long-range plan. I'm sure they fully know what has already been legislated. Time will tell. Meanwhile, Cumberland has kept us racing but would be nice if they made the place more fan-friendly.

You don't like the boat show?

lock, i been saying all along. cumberland forgot that there has to be some fans on track or its all over. its over.

Over/Under Handle projections for opening weekend? With 12 races each day I'll go under $90,000 each day. Tough to bet with many horses not showing a race line since December.

$55,000

hard to say total handle. on track 3000 off will depend if they decide to torture everyone in the paddock by going every 30 mins. if they really drag it out off track might hit 60000. if they run them faster then id say 59000 off track. a lot of cometition on friday night.
-
I say even money there will be torture
-
i think thats a great bet at that price. hope the lights work.
-
We were all wrong: $108,000 for the day. The last race went off at 7:00 and handled $23,000.
-
Overall, a successful opening day.
-
good handle 23000 on last race. on last race did anyone see the 4 at 1-5 and in last minute before the race went off all the money came out and went to the 6 who jogged. 4 went off 16-1 and broke. was not quite torture but being in the paddock from noon till 7 must have been tough. signal was ok, looked like a new camera crew. part time job in maine so i guess thats to be expected. judges called the first dead heat at cumby in many many moons.did the track or boat show get more attendence? announcer makes roger look better than i could ever credit him for.
-
$278 pick 6 carryover 76za.dcg

wow. im in. they will be betting it from everywhere. any changes? any picks i can single?
-
How can Herlick be worse than Roger? Roger ruined the meadows.
-
Pretty decent handle today as Cumberland did over $75,000!
Racing great ans some nice prices!

More boats than people.

june will have the giant flea market to really draw the crowd in.

There are a lot of complaints with Cumberland, but seriously, where would be without them. For the horses we race, the purses are not bad at all. And almost everyone gets money with the small fields. Without Cumberland, most of the guys would rely on Bangor and the fairs. Then what. I'm sure some of the better horses and some of the younger NW horses will try the Ridge. Saw that their purses went up even more than last year and even have cheaper TM races for great money. Small fields too. It's worth a shot even with the price of gas.
We can all bitch and complain, isn't that what most do, but without Cumberland, we would be in real trouble.
on a side note is saw that First Tracks is looking to start up harness racing in Arizona. That could be interesting. GREAT year round weather.
-
agree and dis agree. cumby is a place to race, purses not bad especially for the lower class with not many other places to race. supposed to be a place holder till a new track is built. my only knock is the management company is only in it for their fees, got signal out there but has made no effort to keep or attract any fans. i get most tracks are pretty empty but last time i went there were less than 20 cars and maybe 15 people on the apron. why bother building a new track and how much longer till the casinos point out no one cares and they get away with decoupling. that 100k off track equals 3000 in revenue. that wont cut it.

Is Ron Cushing staying here at Cumberland? Looks like he doesn't have new imports this year as in years past.
