LIKE THE MOST OF US, HE HAS LOST A STEP OVER THE YEARS.
BUT HE STILL IS THE GREATEST DIVER THIS SPORT HAS EVER SEEN, NO ONE EVEN CLOSE tmbz1

OK. 20000 wins is a great accomplishment, Probably will never be surpassed.
But, The Meadows is not the "big leagues".

Are you kidding ? He isn't even in the top 10.

20 , 000 wins
How many wee NOT at the Meadows ??? Maybe 100
He stayed where he did good...smart man
And he filled his pockets.....by NOT being in the number
The crookest track in North America
And the judges fill their pockets and retire witha big pensions

Nah your wrong...ive known Dave for 25+ years and he has had a ton of offers to go drive horses at other tracks in the past and hes declined because he's never been a whore like alot of the drivers..the year Sweet Lou was a 2yr old he won 3 breeders crown races that night picking up drives when a snowstorm caused 2 drivers to miss...when Dave was young he was a partier but when he married and had kids he settled down and rarely left the Meadows because of his family...hes been financially set for years...1 reason he rarely left was because he hated going to other tracks and taking drives from other guys who made their home at that track. You dont get 20000 by accident..you forget guys like Dave Miller and Sears used to drive at the Meadows an he still finished on top every year..just because he never left the Meadows don't think he didn't have the opportunity to...he was just smarter than alot of others.

I don't hate. I just speak the truth. He won most of his races in the minor league. He never did well when leaving The Meadows except the week at Lexington before the big guns would arrive.
-
Maybe hasn't left the Meadows too much, but he's a damn good driver. Always a great bet first time on a horse. Congrats on a hell of an achievement.

You do not speak the truth. What about his BC outside of PA, don't fit your story?
-
Congratulations Dave

Big fish in a small pond! 20K still impressive. But it's like being the AAA home run king.
-
Are you kidding ? He isn't even in the top 10.
Well then, name your 10, Einstein.
-
I think Dave Palone is a great driver. And smart too! He's made a great living, provided security for his family, and achieved this amazing milestone. I'm guessing by the time he retires, he'll have passed the 25,000 mark. Great work Dave!

Buddy Gilmour

Brian Sears better than pierce
Fact legit

It was one race.
Clint Galbraith won with Niatross and he was a horrible driver and Pat Crow probably never won another race after Cam Fella retired.

That is your opinion and I disagree but he belongs on that list for sure.

I have to agree. It's easy to dislike the king of the hill and i was in that group for a while, but Palone has busted his butt for a long time and he come's prepared to race. He's improved his driving skills with trotters also. Congrats Dave on a great accomplishment and being a class act by making your family a priority.

You do not know of Dave palone's history. Out side the Meadows and a week at lexington,, he's won 3 Breeders crown races. Not 0 or 1.
He's also won major takes like the messenger and little brown jug
-
Congrats Dave. Great accomplishment.
You decided to be a local legend who took a cup of coffee in the pro's every now and again.
No shame in choosing family and being local.
That said, his many wins would not change my choice of drivers in big stakes races.
Stakes race at the Meadows. I'd try and get 8-10 other guys first before looking at him.

I'm not knocking him or his accomplishments. He is terrific. Had a great career and is still going. My argument is with the guy calling him the greatest ever.
