There is no doubt society has a different view of the what is accepted treatment of animals. Gone is the live animal circus. Gone is Dog Racing. Protesters every day at Saratoga Race Course. What has also slipped away is strong political support for horseracing.
Mike P. may be a bit of a mental patient, looking to exact revenge on people who hurt him but, racing is in a tough spot now.
What was an accepted practice in training and racing horses is now viewed by many as abuse. Agree or disagree the people with power say it is so. The dynamics of the race horse industry do not have the same political and moral characteristics it had not long ago.
So take it as joke, yuck it up but on day soon, lose what it can not afford to, political influence.
