For some reason can’t make the jump to a true big time trainer, seems like the pieces are though. Hurts that he uses Merriman on young trotters, probably has ruined more than a few.

Ding! Ding,DING! We have a winner! Meriman is not the kind of driver that you want on a 2yr old, especially a trotter! These babies have long seasons on fast tracks.Arod just can't bring himself to finish fast enough to win, instead of always wanting to do so by open lengths. Trotting hopples have saved more than a few guys from looking stupid when it comes to trotters also. Both drivers & trainers. I  heard a quote from a guy who had a barn full of good trotters back before the hopples were used.He would say "Some people train horses and some people are horse trainers. You don't need to watch long to sort'em out either!"     ngc3
