HOLLOWAY, JOSEPH J Mea on 6/26/2021
POSITIVE TEST- POST RACE
FREEHOLD, NJ YOB 1956
FINED: $500
FULL - 15 DAYS, 8/2/2023 THRU 8/16/2023 HORSE DISQUALIFIED - PLACED 9, PURSE REDISTRIBUTION
PA Code Title 7-203.22,401.2 A(1),401.41, 205.33, 205.501 (14). Sample #376342 was found to contain testosterone at a level of 3765pg/ml, a class 3 violation. Sample #376342 was provided by #7 Perfect Sting, who was placed 1st through a disqualification, and was trained by Mr. Holloway. A split sample and DNA was requested and confirmed at a level of 3635pg/ml and a match of DNA. Thus, #7 is disqualified and placed 9th, the purse ($74,166) is ordered to be redistributed, and Mr. Holloway, the trainer of record, is fined $500 and given a 15 day full suspension....... ......so PERFECT STING was NOT so perfect! We see ALL of these trainers getting nailed week after week and nothing changes as these are MILD suspensions. These animal abusers should be give 6 MONTH MINIMUM suspensions and now the owners have to give back over $74,000 of the purse IM-PERFECT STING won illegally! The owners should be furious but it is their own fault in using a guy who would do this.

Joe Holloway is a Hall of fame trainer and in his partnership with David Rovine, also one of the most successful money wise in history

I am hardly a big time owner. It has never made much sense to me that the owner takes 100% of the hit for a positive drug test, while the guy who did it gets a token fine. (see above)
-
In one sense it does make sense if the owner knows exactlu what the trainer is doing and still elects to use him and profit from it.

Two yrs later and a mickey mouse fine. Total joke when testosterone is controlled substance and can only be administered legally by a vet. Where are the vet records? Let me guess the groom was on TRT therapy and pissed in his stall!
