3rd Hambo already!
Can't take it away from this kid. he can flat out fucking drive.
I know alot of people on here love Dexter Dunn. I don't and I'll take Scotty every day, twice on Sunday and three time when the money is down!
-
When the moneys down, Scotty is around!
tmbz1
-
Congrats. I agree the guy can drive. Has the hands and the brains. Classy young man.
-
A great job when the flood gates opened on the rail. Zeron is great when there is big money on the line.
-
Congrats to Scotty. Good guy. But, Fuck Nancy, that bloated bitch!
-
With 3 in the bag, will he get #4 in the next 5 years? I think he will.
-
He always seems to be in the right position when the money is down! Nice drive! tmbz1

Luckiest driver in the country
Seas alwsys part for him
He’s got patience. He’s got talent
He’s not better than green hornet or bionic man
-
Scotty Zeron is a better driver than Yannick Gingras. There I said it DEAL!

How many Hambo's has Yannick win and how many favorites has he gotten beat? How many fav's Z had?

Whose has. More wins and purse earnings the last ten yrs
Scott or green hornet
I’m asking for a friend

You could put anyone in the top 20 in the country behind Burke horses and Takter horses and get same or better results. When Yannick drives for someone besides Burke or Takter he barely bats .200
-
His sense of positioning and making the correct move is super sharp. It was said over and over by all the experts, "anyone can win this race".
-
This is what I am saying. Right now, big money one the line - Tetrick, Miller, Scotty Z - not Yannick
-
With so many gunning to the half it falls well for the Z man. He has patience and knows the pace. Had the lane not opened Nancy would have had a disastrous day.
14 stake races, 4 favorites win.
Tough season so far for some barns. First big day past, Lex and Breeders Crown still coming up. Time to salvage something. Alagna had around 12 starters, 2 thirds and a 5 th.

Scotty best driver to come out of Canada since Campbell
-
If ache is patient and stays on the rail does he win race? His biggest shortcoming is unbridled aggression. Scotty is more willing to let things come to him.
Hey, howabout two trotters winning his and her hambo from 10 post. Odd # of outside posts winning on hambo day; especially trotters.

Excellent observation Ferdinand.

Ake sucks! Has no sense of what's going on around him during a race. He can't change plans on the fly and if his predetermined strategy isn't right, he looks like an idiot and costs his owners tons of cash!
-
I get the points you are making about Ake as a driver. Many of the Swedes back in my day drove their own as often if not more than they used catch drivers. From a bettor's perspective one could say he "sucks". But he is a great horseman and excellent trainer of trottrs and runs a first class outfit.

I completely agree he is a top notch trainer. He could make 30-40% more at a minimum if he only used the top catch drivers.
-
Cant argue that. I have used him several times on top at good prices ( since he was driving ), including saturday and have had to endure alot of seconds and thirds that easily could have been wins with any accomplished driver.
-
Scotty's a hard working guy, deserves all the credit. He earned It!
-
He epitomizes all that is right about a harness driver.
-
10.6 Million in purses for Scott Z this year
add in tips and drivers pay for also rans and he banked in the neighborhood of 600K this year
Good enough he is saying no to winter racing
3 months off......good for him, wish I could do the same

And get a drive like Confederate got ???
Ake drives ok in my estimation. His training skills cover most of his driving mistakes. His horses can outlive a bad trip.
I’d rather my horse got beat because of a bad drive than because it was stiffed.

Scotty best driver to come out of Canada since Campbell
I wouldn’t quite go that far in your assessment. However’ he paid his dues in the business and earned to where he is today!
Food for thought—What were Campbell’s final starts-1st-2nd-3rd-UDRS and where are Zeron’s??

Question of the day:
How good would Scotty Z be driving horses Burke stock, Tetrick stock, et al?
-
A great job when the flood gates opened on the rail. Zeron is great when there is big money on the line.
Didn’t Calvin Borel do the same thing in thoroughbred racing??
Horses get tired, they generally drift out and the rail opens up. The shortest between 2 points is the straightest line!!

If Zeron drove for Burke he would be top 2 in earnings and Burke would win a lot more big races. Rumor on the street is Nancy is shopping for a backup on Karl. There just looking for a reason to get rid of Yannick. Everyone knows he's a week to week driver and can't win the Hambo. Winning the hambo takes planning and getting the horse right. Yannick doesn't teach a horse anything and he has zero skills. With Yannick driving Karl will have to go gait to wire every start next year. He will never last doing that.
-
very good and interesting point

Yea, everyone is trying to get rid of the driver that tops the standings 73cv.2 73cv.2 73cv.2

Both very talented, top drivers. Two categories I give Scott a very distinct edge in are, one, I think Scott is a "smarter" driver than Yannick, higher driver IQ. Two, I think Scott also has a better sense of pace than Yannick, a better internal clock, but able to use it at any point in a race and in any position on the track. To me, Scott is often driving more than one horse in a race if you know what I mean. Sure, people say Yannick drives for Burke, drives for Takter, if he didn't he'd be a nobody, he wouldn't be top 5 or 10, and so on.
That's just BS. If you know what you are looking at, you can tell a driver who is successful mainly because of who he is driving for, or because he's got more horsepower, etc. I am not saying Yannick would do as well, but that doesn't mean he isn't a top driver. Morons said the same thing about Jackie Mo, he was great only because he was driving for Robinson and Pelling. That's complete BS and total stupidity. Jackie Mo was a great driver, period.

Who would drive you horses? If Jackie Mo was in his prime (not 2023 age).
Whether it’s a Nw/2, 15k claimer, the meadowlands pace, the Hambletonian?
Jackie Mo
Yannick
Scott Z

The Ronnies...Waples and Pierce
They always raced a horse intelligently, and brought your horse back in one piece...cannot say the same thing about most of they guys today.
-
Scotty is truly a top level driver, one of the best in the business. He's also a bit of a rare find in harness racing, educated, well spoken and polite. A real asset to the industry.

Interesting, is there more to this Lance ?

Proof of this is when he was hurt and did the Hambo telecast and when he filled in at Lexington when Dave Brower passed.
-
both yannick and scott are top notch drivers on the track ( that is what we are basing this on ??)
they are just different
i would suggest either would fit a certain horse or certain situation based on the timing

Must get all these qualities from his mothers side

right on par four !!

Dad must of taught how to drive and Mom taught him manners and how to act in public. LOL
-
Anyone remember when a pre-teen Scotty would slash the whip in a "Z" pattern when his dad was in the win picture?

And with Pierce, you can wave “bye-bye” during a race too!!
Agreed, both Pierce and Waples brought their horses back in 1 piece and won quite a few big races too at big prices too!

Yes it was neat to see the kid out there tmbz1

He never does the Zorro move when he wins now. Wonder why?

That was his Dad's thing

Of course the kind of horse is going to factor in. I will say that in the Meadowlands Pace and the Hambo -- today's Yannick and Scott, and Jackie Mo in his prime (say early 90's)...I would pick Jackie Mo.

Ron Pierce for the BIG $$$ was the best ever.

Scott Zeron does real good in big races. He backs some live drives. That is good since he doesn't have a consistent big stable behind him.
