He would earn double the income and spend 50% less on monthly bills. It’s @ no brained. Please Mr. Overhiser get out of that Erv barn as fast as you can. You’re being taken advantage of.

I don’t know about earning double but the bills be cheaper

I'm very curious to what every individual trainers monthly bills are--before vet and shipping?
What is a 'fair' daily rate?
What is a 'high' daily rate?
What is an 'excessive' day rate?

I always said I don’t care what the rate is as long as I get results. How in the hell can you get good results with Marcus or atlee driving your horses? Even at the B track like Hoosier those guys are below average.

Before I answer your question, I have a question, the answer to which in essence goes to the heart of you question. Is there any one who knows or any possible way to find out what the average standardbred in North America earned last year? From the very bottom to the very top. Take all the earnings, total them and divide it by the number of horses who raced. Anyone have any idea?

Total purses are posted every day on the USTA site week at a glance page. As for how many horses have started a race only the USTA record keeping dept. might have that. You would have to get in touch with them.

A fair price is any amount that someone is willing to pay for your service or product. The Top guys like Alagna,Takter,Pelling etc. charge a lot but they also have no shortage of people willing to pay for there services

Maybe foal crop by year is an easier number to find than starters. then index somehow.

That was my first thought but how do you account for the aged horses still racing

You smoking some good shit. Her dad has been involved with some of the worst drug trainers last 20 years. Jodie Essig was a decent B track driver when they hooked up. Now she a top trainer. GTFOOH

The day rate matters but with Erv and others it's all the creative accounting that goes into those high bills. Tony A if he learned anything after going on his own was duplicating that same method. If you have some good stake horses or GC earners those bills get padded further. But at that point one may not matter its that nw 3 5k a month everything out the door because a owner of many will have more of those than being lucky to have a top horse in the stable.
