is a reasonable chance that this positive was a result of environmental contamination. This
does not excuse Mr. York from responsibility for the positive test, as he is responsible for
protecting the horse from such exposure, but it was considered a mitigating factor in
determining the penalty. ROSE RUN ZEKE finished 1st in The Meadows’ 9th race on July

You got that right! A guy that has a mom and pop operation would be suspended immediately and everything in to go would be scratched! USTA & the State commissions should operate under A.K.C. AssKissersCentral! This entire situation stinks more than Gung Ho!

Altrenogest:
synthetic progestin, is used extensively in the reproductive management of mares to control the reproductive cycle, help maintain pregnancy, and help with behavior modification.

So why are you allowing this to be used on a gelding? What can it do for a colt?

It’s regumate

Someone probably accidentally gave it to the wrong horse
Pretty hard to mess that up , but when you have so many horses, oh well

Provides ZERO performance enhancement to a gelding and does literally nothing for all the horseplop expert trainers and veterinarians out there

Ake given a fine and no days for Dilantin?  What the fuc are you doing giving a horse anti-seizure/ Epilepsy meds? Let me guess another mix up? AND WHO PRESCRIBE IT?

Racing commissions prove what's wrong with Harness racing every day!

That is Dantrolene sodium and used for treating tie up

Most places I dealt with have 72hr rule on that

They can disagree all they want
It’s true

It’s a hormone and doesn’t make horses go faster

In fact, most the medications tested for don’t provide any performance enhancing abilities like people seem to think!believe it or not

Let me be clearer, Regumate for mares cycling supresses estrus. These guys must be waaay sharper than I ever was cause I never heard of giving it to a gelding or any male horse for that matter.

It's been used on geldings for a long time.  Here is a quote from this forum three years ago concerning it

Most of us use Regumate on our mares and in the middle of last year, several people were fined for progesterone (from Regumate) at the Meadows.  They are calling it when it is discovered in Geldings or Horses because it is known to have a calming effect.

Gotcha. Yeah, I never fooled with progesterone in male horses. Calming is a nice way of saying it made them dull and I wasn't interested in doing that.

Just because a vet claims it does something it’s not intended to do doesn’t mean it works

You would all be surprised how many times vets are incorrect
Vets aren’t the ones putting bridles on a horse every single day

Female hormones have been used to relax high-strung geldings, so they're more controllable during a race. I've never heard of the hormone having the same effect on an intact male horse.

Used it lots on sour geldings. It seemed to make them happier. Especially if the came out a barn that used lots of Winstol and Equipoise.

OH Kirby! As you may or may not have known there was a product for mares called Regumate that was banned from use in male horses due to the increased performance in geldings! This was not only being used in racing applications, it was also used in Polo and Barrell racing ang the likes. When a substance that works is outlawed, prior users look for a substitute. There have been a few other positives in male horses with female hormone type products since they implemented the ban in males.
