He just pissed away another half mil on OnGait especially if his brother is training that horse for him. You’d think at some point he would have to look at his bottom line and say hmmmmmmmm!!! This dude can’t be that sharp businessman he claims to be. What a joke!

Greg Luther Racing lit up the OnGait.com auction site today, buying Why Not Now for $502,000. The Always A Virgin Colt has hit the board in all 18 starts this year, winning nine. He has earned $617,165 this year. He is coming off a win in the $260,000 Progress Pace Final.
Greg Luther says he is very excited about the purchase. “We plan to race him next year to get some of the investment back and then breed him.”

Luther brought his "real estate clientele" to his farm last year. One couple filmed it for youtube. They made a point of saying how Luther has the largest stable of racing saddlebreds. ngc3 ngc3 ngc3

Nothing he ever does makes any sense! Like jumping bids by $100k on a colt by his own stallion! Attention getter or just plain stupidity!

I saw that. Total Tony Robbins hyped up BS. Yea the largest stable of racing saddlebreds in the country, I might add. ngc3 ngc3 ngc3. Amazing considering a few years back todd was always unshaven and in dirty clothes claiming worn out horses for Bruce Soulsby.

Dylan Davos a good trainer? You must be kidding right? Dylan only knows one thing - inject EPO weekly and give until you can't give anymore. Once they crash just replace horse. This guy can't train Lassie to piss on paper. This horse will not function next year and Luthor just donated $500K to Howard Taylor. What a joke. No one will breed to this fake rat anyway. Never beat anyone other than Progress Pace and he was loaded to the gills with no detention barn. Luthor better spend some money and get an advisor that can tell him what to buy and what not to buy. Who ever he listens to is costing him a fortune.

He’s bred to be a real horse at the very least. Brother in 48, a couple of other good ones. Must have beat someone cause he’s made 600k this year.

Davis has been avg at best since the Fishman fiasco and only reason why he has any success is because of Taylor and his endless pockets! Sometimes good horses just win and some needs a lot of help..

It’s Luther not Lex Luthor of Superman fame!
Is this a ‘tax write-off for Luther?
Inquiring minds want to know.
Where does HT place this sale is his “tax portfolio “?

He wasn’t called “Black Magic” Racing for nothing.

Can't write off on taxes when it's a hobby and not a business. Goverment has really cracked down on the horses and tax laws. People tried to get away with "I made a LLC" but now the IRS says "If you have had a license to own for more than 6yrs and your still losing money then it's a hobby" Just because you make a new LLC doesn't constitute it being a new business venture and you get to start over on your 6yrs. So this IS NOT a tax write off.

Why did his stable name change
-
Why did his stable name change
Because his brother became part of the ownership. Instead of prior owner / trainer relationship for Black Magic .

Planning to get some money back? Off his card is more likely! Breeders want the "Hot Hand" and not the stud that is skating on the edge of "Has Been", G.L. better send him elsewhere if he does race him. Should be a good watch if nothing else!

Where was Andrew Harris et al when we needed them??
-
Nice that you guys found someone besides Lucpark to tell how to spend 'THEIR' $$
-
Where was Andrew Harris et al when we needed them??
Andrew Harris is no dummy. He knows that horse will crash in a month and will not function. That horse will look like absolute death within two months.
-
Maybe some sort of funds he has to get rid of quickly???

Easy enough on year 6 you show a $10k profit. Now it is a business

Section 183 of the Internal Revenue Code provides that if a horse business engaged in by an individual, partnership or subchapter S corporation shows a profit in two years within a seven year period (beginning with the first profit year), it will be presumed to be engaged in for profit.

Go check the date on that. That's old code and IRS is using new rules now.

A fool and his gold are soon parted. That being said, if he wants to invest then God bless him. At least he doesn't attempt to drive them himself.
Remember Courtney Foos?
