gamblers?

I would say many, yes, not all tmbz1

The sad part is that many trainers “cheat” their owners in the shipping and other incidentals and these owners don’t care. If they don’t question their bills, then they get what they deserve!
If I have a question about a bill, I ask. FYI, I send a check out to pay my bill usually within 96 hours after receiving it!

Why are you admitting that you are a slow pay owner? It’s people like you who give owners a bad name. You should immediately pay your bill on the 1st of the month along with your mortgage. That’s terrible that you wait so long to pay.

HUH?
REALLY??
Do you own a horse?
Please answer yes or no please
How fast should an owner pay their trainer?
Hopefully some other owners/trainers can fill you in on the facts of the business!

Yes I own three horses and I get the bill on the first and Zella my trainer the money on that afternoon. Trainers don’t make a lot of money and deserve to be paid on time just like the rest of your bills. If there is a discrepancy in the bill you can always discuss it later and if it turns out to be on your favor, you can get a credit toward the next months bill. Just like at&t does.

Sorry, I'm not a tekkie like you are!
FYI, my trainer knows when the check is on its way!
Haven't had a complaint yet on this important relationship!

Sorry but trainers today will refer to you as slow pay. None of my business but I just don’t understand why you hold the bill for 4 days? You can always take care of any errors the following month. Give the trainer their money

Thank you for putting in your 2 cents in on something that should not concern you.
How come you are so jealous of what other people have financially as well as how they handle their racing business?
FYI, my trainer is satisfied with how this is done as I haven't gotten any complaints in many years!

trained horses for 40 years for some high profile owners most wanted to wait 30 days to pay 96 hours unheard of in my day

Absolutely they cheat their owners. I worked for a trainer who was telling his owner his horse was training down good and the PSOB had not been out of his stall in a month due to a chip in his knee.
Finally, after a couple months of collecting a training bill for standing in his stall he told him he sored up and was done and he should get rid of him and claim something else! Which he did! Never the wiser!

Thank you for your words of wisdom. I’ll check with my trainer and see if there is a change in plan on how they conduct their business!

Absolutely some trainers cheat their owners. I knew a guy that had a horse being trained and racing at Yonkers. The owner lived about 5 hours away, would just pay the bill every month. Couple months in a row, trainer tells owner horse is having problems and he had 5 vets looking at horse. Vet bill was like $20,000 a month for 2 months. Owner finally realized and found out, vets were writing fake vet bills and splitting the payment from the owner with the trainer. Not good if you don’t come around barns to actually see if your horse is being trained and taken care of properly.

Are you bored JJ?
Too bad you’re wrong JJ! I thank you for putting your 2 cents in on this thread!

As in any aspect...some trainers do and always do. MOST so not. If the owner is doing well it makes everyone and everything better. As an aside, whoever thinks having a bill paid in full in 4 days is "slow"....probably has never sent a bill. ngc3 ngc3 ngc3

Another brainwashed low caliber trainer who is begging the owner to pay his bill. Hey why don’t you check with Burke and see if he’ll wait four days to be paid. Top trainers don’t have to kiss ass for owners. Sone of these owners pay one or two months in advance to get into a top barn. So that sums it up that you are an Illinois guy which says you are busted and used to slow or no pay owners. Good for you.

All I know is that my trainer hasn’t had to beg me for not paying my bill!!! I also send other caveats with my bill (extra money for carrots, apples, etc. among other things).
Thanx for posting!

anyone who trains babies must constantly lie to the owners telling them how great their colts are then first week of baby races 90% are duds

What don’t you understand%? I would hope that your trainer doesn’t have to beg you to pay your bill. Pay your fucking bill just like you pay every single one of your other bills. Your trainer needs to start charging a $30 late fee if you don’t pay by the 2nd of the month. If you don’t pay the bill within 24 hours of receiving it, then there should be a late fee assessed. Again if you send money for apples and carrots that is for your horse and the trainer doesn’t benefit one iota. You are doing that fir YOUR horse so pay the bill for YOUR horse.

What don't you understand?
Maybe trainers should put all of what you say as disclaimers on their bills!
I pay my bills monthly and my trainer isn't calling/texting me to hurry up, unlike a late mortgage or car payment!
Thank you for your concerns.
Please be someone else's accountant and tell them what they should do with their money and how fast they should pay their bills!

[/quotes you don’t know by now to pay your bills on time then it means you are just another bustout who shouldn’t be in the horse business.

Talking about bust-outs?
Take a good look in the mirror and you’ll see who is a bust-out!!
I’m in the business, enjoy myself doing this and I pay my bills!
Please worry about yourself and your own life before you try to dictate other people’s lives especially on horseplop!!

This is BS. Top trainers get screwed all the time. Me at top owners pay on 90 days just like they do in real life. Unfortunately when things go bad you are holding the bag on 3 months worth instead of one. And there is always another trainer willing to take their horses. See Ernie Martinez he has no problem getting a piece of any almost any horse he wants

I am a hands on owner. Been in the business for over 50 years. Have had 5 trainers over that time. Really Only 2 different ones as the others were when the horses were placed where they fit a far away track better. i know what is going on with most of the horses in the barn just by watching. I know a lot of owners and in general can say most trainers are poor communicators. Most owners like some communication, a few don’t. One glove does not fit all.
As far as paying bills. If a bill is handed me, I write a check, if it is delivered and Im going to see the trainer in the next 2 days it is taken to him, if not its in the mail. That day.. They have bills too.

Look who is doing the posting as to determine the validity of the words actually typed here. How much credibility does Larry have with his posts here?
Enough said!

Like any business, there are honest people and dishonest people. Nothing new. Used to be an old saying in the business...some very smart owners, who are brilliant in their own business, check their brains at the stable gate or when they get to the farm, and they become stupid. LOL.

Thank you sir. Finally an owner who gets it. When you get a tucking bill, PAY IT. Tere is no reason to hang on to it, like this guy just said when he’s handed a bil, he pays it!!! Thank you sir.

Maybe someone should ask Mark Ford this question.

Good afternoon JJ,
Take a good look in the mirror about who is a moron!
Can you please discuss racing and stop spewing nonsense that makes you look foolish on horseplop!
How’s life in your basement up north?

Fuck you JJ you cock loving, cock craving, Senator in disguise.

Look at the # of posts for JJ [Juice Jerkoff]! He has been here many years and just doesn't like others for whatever reason! His BFF {PORKY} PIGLAND isn't much better at times. These 2 think they can own and run horseplop and "BULLY" those they don't like! These 2 could very well be the reason horseplop has gotten worse and not better. Add to the fact that there seems to be a 'new breed' of individuals as bad as the 1st crop, if not worse!

While i lost money in the 90's in this "game", i never felt that there was any "cheating" by my two trainers. Both had very small stables, and the owners were pretty frindly with each other. All owners had detailed bills with traing fees, vet bills, farriar bills, paddock fees, etc. We all thought that the vet bills were 'padded" but never knew if our trainers got any "kickbacks". I like to think there were some good honest trainers in the game.

$20k vet bill your Buddy is an idiot for not looking into it after the first month.

Any smart trainer should screw their owners before the owners screw them it's going to happen sooner or later so get up on them before it happens
