sooooo, no racing until when????

This sounds like a BS. So they close the existing track, with a "pending" possibility of another track that is not even achieved approvals? What a great business model.

A tough bitter pill for MI horsemen and horsewomen to swallow. Even if they get approval by the Fall, it will take at a minimum probably 18 months to get a new one built and opened? That’s what, sometime in 2025 at the earliest? Don’t understand the thinking with Mr. Carlo with that one. I’d recommend that for the sake of the folks in the industry he publicly issues a time-frame so they can plan for this.

hey michigan horseman come to northfield where you can race for third and 4th place money behind people with possitives, burke/schillacci and kreiser who just hasnt been caught yet

Still would probably come out better ahead. Sadly :P

I wouldn't believe anything about a new track until they start pushing dirt!

Plan? The only viable plan was to leave when the first casino opened in Greektown, some 15 years ago, or more.

bring back Hazel park
-
I think that someone told me that Hazel is now a Amazon hub or something similar!

Just in time to send a train load to the winter sale!

Maywood Park is now an Amazon hub.
-
Maybe Besos can fund harness racing also.

New track not happening, RIP Michigan racing.
-
The attendance is nonexistent and the handles are awful. Why would anyone put a lot of money into building a new losing proposition?

this
Yea a giant Amazon hub that has same day delivery for that region. LG is also there. It was funny when Amazon started this business location there were still horse barns for the first 6 months literally 50 feet away from Amazon, 70 year old barns still standing as a vestige of a by gone day of racing. The property is so giant that even Amazon being there left much more race track land that wasnt developed yet at that point.

These are the same type of people that will oppose a cell tower to go up in their city but then complain non stop about poor service.

It's official! There will be no new track in Plymouth! They already have a approved plan with Meijer to be built on the golden site. The bright side is that all the local horsemen will have no problem finding it when they need a job or some rations for the empty cupboards! Next time Mike Carlo shakes your hand and pats your back as you walk away, you better be sure that you still have your wallet! 73cv.2

THERE WILL BE NO TRACK AT THE NEW LOCATION. NONE. IT WILL BE DEVELOPD AS A CASINO PROPERTY. IF YOU READ THE MODEL CAREFULLY, THEY WILL HAVE SIMULCASTING TO BET ON BUT NO LIVE RACING.
TRUTHFULLY, THT WILL BE THE NEW MODEL OF THE HARNESS WORLD.
EVENTUALLY, ONLY A HANDFUL OF SUPER TRACKS.
THE MODEL NOW THAT EXIST CANNOT SURVIVE IN THIS CLIMATE PERIOD. IMPOSSIBLE. THE HORSEMAN OULD HAVE TO TAKE AN INTEREST IN THEIR FUTURE AND HAVE STRONG LEADERSHIP TO SURVIVE. THE TRUTH IS THAT FOR DECDES THE WEALTHY HAVE ALL TAKEN OUT BUT NOT PUT BACK INTO THE RACING OF HORSES. THE BREEDERS---THE USTA---INVESTORS NEEDED STRONG LEADERSHIP TO SURVIVE AND GROW. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN DONE AND HORSE RACING COULD OF SURVIVED. I BELEIVE IT IS SO FAR GONE NOW WITH ALL OF THE NEGATIVE PUBLICITY AND ZERO LEADERSHIP THAT IT WILL NOT SURVIVE AS WE KNOW IT. DECOUPLING WILL TAKE PLACE AND SOONER THAN LATER THE TRACKS WILL SHED THE LIABILITY OF FUNDING PURSES. TIMES ARE CHANGING . YOU SEE AMAZON AND WALMART DO NOT DONATE MONEY TO MOM AND POP STORES OR BUSINESES. WHY SHOULD CASINOS FLOAT THE GAMBLING ON HORSES WHICH HAS DECREASED. THE CASINOS WANT SPORTSBOOKS----NOT HORSES. SPORTBOOKS ARE COST EFFECTIVE---LITTLE OVERHEAD AND VERY PROFITABLE. EVEN THE VENUE OF FOOTBALL NOW CATERS TOWARDS GAMBLING.
FOLKS THE WORLD HAVE CHANGED AND THE HARNESS HORSEMAN MISSED THE BOAT!!!!!

When an ownership is negotiating with the land holders,It's too late to be a part of the development process! The MHHA should have met with the owners to inform them that they have to do this or that in order to get enough to fill the cards. If you go through life with your head up your ass,you will always be a crumb catcher!
