Title: Meadowlands Pace handle disappointing
Post by: stanetelman on July 14, 2024, 03:42:47 PM
With great weather and a national TV broadcast on FS2, the total handle for the evening was a disappointment compared to last year's event.  A total of $5,136,129 was pushed through the windows last evening,  compared to last year's total of $5.672,535, a drop of more than $535,00.  "While we're happy that we topped $5 million in handle for the evening, we had to cancel show wagering on the Dancer Memorial because of the presence of Karl" said Big M Chief Operating Officer and General Manager Jason Settlemoir. "We just could not run the risk of a large minus pool as it could have cost us  a lot of money."

I bet Settlemoir went in his office and jacked off after Karl was 3rd.

Place pool was huge

I was one of the fortunate to wager $10 to place on the other 7 horses. I wasn’t expecting a $338 place payoff. Until I clicked on the pools after the payoffs popped up. And noticed only $21,000 bet on horses not named Karl out of $167,000

Well Saratoga opening weekend averaged about 30 mill a day so maybe that played into it---although that would have happened last year too.
A 10% decline yoy isn't horrible for meadowlands I suppose
