Nancy will fair much better than she did on Pace night card! McClure replaced by Timmy T on Sylvia Hanover. Allegiant to spring mild upset on the Oaks. Any have any early thoughts or observations?
-
will yannick be in the grandstand as usual on big cards
-
Outside of the two big races
Oaks and hambo
It’s a bad card
Compared to previous years

The illustrious Cane Pace coveted jewel in the Triple Crown attracted a grand total of 5 entries. ngc3 ngc3

It would be nice to know how many were nominated, and how many were eligible at the time of the draw.
Even on a 'big track' only 5 entries! If it was Yonkers and a 1/2-mile track, then it would be more understandable.
You should just eliminate the 'triple crown' all together and just have more big money races for the 3-year-olds. It would be intriguing to watch on a weekly basis from june through the end of the racing season and the breeder's crown.

The Cane having 5 entries is a big disappointment.
Where is Bythemissal? Did he breakdown in the Battle?
There are plenty of big fields. That will hopefully result in some prices.
Cashman, Steele, & Mckee should be interesting.
Will the Hambletonian big two duel & set it up for someone else? Will others be good enough to capitalize...if so?
-
I like Etsell's Trotter in the Hambo, good post to get away close. If he is within striking distance of Karl and TCI at the top of the lane it will be interesting...... he is a powerful animal.

I agree it's a nice card, just not what it once was. Cane pace drawing 5 is ridiculous.

24 hr detention stops nothing but the shakers. Yogurt OK…. And no detention for Shady Daisy , NJ SS or Kindergarten. Let the good times roll.

The kindergarten only has a purse of 20k.
That answers why no detention barn.

i agree its a decent card and likely the best to offer at this time
not sure what some of you fellas are expecting
not sure what some of you think is missing
yes the cane with 5 horses is sad
but this is the new reality of strong regional sires stakes weakening the grand circuit
as i have said before you cant race in them all

It has to be a day ending in Y with the same bunch complaining about The Meadowlands or Gural.
On another note, its looking like rain on Saturday possibly causing handle to be down..... Im sure they will love that!

And attendance.....un fortunately.....t he new norm for a big day of attendance for the Hambo is what? 15,000? About $7.9mm was the all in NA handle.....but I was in Trotters last year and walked outside, down the stairs, and right outside to the clubhouse outdoor seating, right on the finish line.....and I sat down and watched the race live. There were plenty of seats!!! They weren't sold out!!! Depressing. It's the new model for on-track attendance and handle. New norm.

CAWs don't care if it's raining or not.

Hambletonian Day was once rich in history with races like
The Merrie Annabelle(2yo filly trot)
Peter Houghton Memorial(2 yo colt/gelding trot)
The Mistletoe Shalee(3yo fillies)
US Pacing Championship
Nat Ray(older trotters)--very deep in history....
Heat racing-with elims then the final on the same day--you had to win 2x on the same day to win it all or they had a raceoff
while some of these still exist under a different name--its not what it once was
There were never NJSS races on this day
That is why this is the weakest Hambletonian Day card that The M1 has ever staged
-
91 degrees with rain plus a soccer match across the parking lot. Sure sounds enticing. ;D
-
Of course it looks like we will have fucked up weather

If the track is at all "deep" it will most certainly hurt Karl with the rail!!

With all the money pouring in to the stakes programs in many states and now the duel eligibility in KY, there is more incentive to race in those races and only face the best in one state instead of a grand circuit race where you face the best in all of North America.
Slots is the worst thing that has ever happened to harness racing.

dual eligibility in Massachusetts too!

dual eligibility in Massachusetts too!
To get the most value, breeding operations should open a facility in one of the duel eligibility states and move all their broodmares there but keep their stallions in one of the other states. That would maximize the value of their yearlings.
-
too bad there went a few more amature races that day
-
Weather should be dry until around 3:45pm and rain for a brief period before the Hambo, then dry until 6:30pm, so most of the card should be OK without rain.

Rain will take place between 3:45pm-7:00pm with latest update so Hambo could be sloppy. Entire card on MSG+.

Fuck Gural. Can't even put on their best card without whining. Close it down asshole!
It would be worth it to be rid of you! 11.wp

Nice choice on the wardrobe Jeffie. Long sleeve dark colored shirt in 90 degree temps. ngc3

At least he has shoes on and not the jesus slippers he normally wears with his toes that look like they need cut with bolt cutters.

Not that I love him but I want to hear from the Yannick haters that claim
he only knows to go the front. BRILLIANT drive. If your aren't piking then
don't leave at all. The Freak has probably dropped trowel already. Props to
Mike Campbell. He stuck his neck out and the horse backed him up. Good feeling. tmbz1

certainly not the greatest trotter ever-tripping out
yes YG was excellent

Stuck his neck out on the horse thats been the most highly thought of 2 and 3 yr old trotter for probably over a half a decade lol
No shade on Karl. He's a great horse. But acting like you're out on an island backing a 3/5 shot is kinda funny. The only reason that people clown on Mike is he goes up and down about Karl's gonna be the best ever.
-
Very uncharacteristic drive by Yannick. He actually drove with brains and got the job done. I was really chirping when Highland Kismet kicked away for just a few strides late in the game. I’m happy he got the monkey off his back. I was extremely happy for Nancy. A WET NANCY. what could one expect more? Wow what a beauty.
-
I get that he's been highly touted. The fact that you also know Mike has
repeatedly stated that shows how he stuck his neck out. The more you talk,
the more abuse you invite. Like I said, the horse backed him up. ;D

So you think Karl has been the most highly thought of 2 and 3 year old trotter over half a decade. What a pile of bullshit that is. When TCI beat him last year, everyone called him counterfeit. This year, all I heard is he will run when asked for speed. When he finished third in the Dancer, everyone once again said he is not as good as advertised. LAST YEAR I posted that Karl should win Horse of the Year and was bashed. Once again douchebag...Karl will be remembered as the greatest trotter EVER!!

0% chance of greatest trotter ever. You keep Jimmy away from him for a week prior to him racing in a huge stake and he will get his head caved in. If you don't inject every joint, give him tildren, shock every joint and use the cold spa daily he won't function.

Not even close to being that yet. Let's see him win on all size tracks and win the Elitloppet. Maybe then he would be in the conversation.

Yannick wins the most money of any driver and he does it with less drives than many of the top drivers. You all can over analyze how he drives but I take the purses he wins.

yeah caught that too...that was the most surprising look of the day. As she ages into her 60s, I know she has gone from the leather outfits she used to wear to the old maid dresses she had on but Cristina was pulling on her back class today and Karl was loving every minute eyeing them up for a later feed, Michelle Crawford was jealous for sure. Also Nancys panties became see thru in her soaked silks. Great day was had by all. The lovely Sarah Svanstedt looked stunning her tight shirt and pants. Classy all the way and putting some of those sloppy barn girls in flowered dresses with bad tatoos that were styling around the apron. But I have to address a couple of no shows. No Casie Coleman. I thought for sure we would see her in her famous tight melon dress. Also where was Jen Bo. Her one horse stable Zannata somehow got third and she wsa nowhere to be found nor was she there for Nicholas Beach off the board finish.
As for some others, Wendy Ross needs a makeover. Jessica Otten can possibly lose a couple of pounds. Thought I saw Heather Vitale but not sure, it seems like USTA isnt interested in her hijinx. Didnt see Tronds wife who is usually all legs wearing some high end outfit.
