No sign contract Hawthorne more $12-15 million
Agriculture Departmento still have racing

I would stike. Why does IHHA keep wanting to do business with Hawthorne when they have turned there backs on us every time. Especially when Carey doesn’t show up to negotiates. Tired of the Careys having say in everything for us.
At this point, I rather keep watching racing at fairs across Illinois then a cardboarded Hawthorne that sits fans 100 yards past the wire.

If you strike, you only add to your expenses and still have no purse money (income) coming in. Many of the individuals are only getting by to begin with if not going into debt more. If you're going to strike and not race because you don't like management, you might as well leave Illinois forever and race elsewhere. Perhaps you can make a better living racing elsewhere!

Now this is flat out UNBELIEVABLE...
At the Sept 19, 2024 Racing Board Meeting where they granted 2025 race dates, Tim Carey told the Board they are making "significant progress" on construction of the casino. However, he could not discuss the matter in detail because of confidentiality. Carey said they "remain steadfast in their efforts"....
Are you fuckin kidding me???? These puppets and pigeons listening to him ( including the IHHA leadership) have got to be the biggest idiots alive...AMAZING this bullshit continues to go on for another year...UNREAL

If you strike you won't gain anything but legal bills. You have no leverage.
-
It is sad what has happened to Illinois harness.

Also, Pompano Park [RIP] and Freehold too at the end of 2024!

The IHHA does have some leverage here. They have two avenues to place some pressure on Hawthorne.
First of all, they can deny Hawthorne there opportunity to simulcast all racing from 6:30pm to 6:30am as the licensee must get permission each year from the IHHA for that right to do it.
Secondly, if they don't race at Hawthorne during the calendar year of 2025, Hawthorne will be unable to collect their Recapture money that was earned for 2024.
Now it would certainly be detrimental to the Illinois Standardbred industry to go this route, but if they feel that
they have no other options, these two proposed actions could place some pressure om Hawthorne.
