Title: Drivers who should be in the Hall of Fame but aren't
Post by: Scooteroo on October 09, 2024, 09:29:52 AM
Two drivers who definitely belong in the Hall of Fame but for whatever reason aren't are Jackie Mo & Luc Ouellette. Is it because they both moved to Canada late in their careers?

There were a lot of drivers that would have been on the list of “great drivers” had they wanted to move to the tracks in the cities or be willing to be on the road constantly from June until October.

Billy Parker may have won a lot of races at Monticello and some at Yonkers, but he's not even close to being a Hall of Famer, other than the Monticello HOF, he doesn't have the credentials or the earnings or the talent. George Brennan should be in, but he was involved in that scandal at Freehold years ago with Jim Morill Jr and Howard Parker. Even though he never won any stakes races or just a few, Tony Morgan should be in considering the # of career wins he has, and is still going strong at age 66.

No, it was because both of those drivers became automatic throw outs after about 65% of their career was completed. Trainers with good horses told them no, you are not driving my horses anymore.

You talk like you have firsthand information which I extremely doubt, but even if it's so the people who nominate them are on a committee and trainers have nothing to do with the process, it's based on their career accomplishments, not if they're throw outs for betting purposes.

I know there's alot of politics that goes on by the committee on who's nominated and gets in. As far as I know, neither have a criminal record, but personally I never thought Jackie Mo was very forthcoming on interviews, but Luc seemed to be an okay guy.
