Title: To the old guys who have great memories of chicago racing
Post by: racing123 on January 13, 2025, 08:55:41 PM
1999 Orange and Blue 2 yr old colt winner was a horse named Ascot Brandy...i'm curious the breeding of that horse...who bred the horse...who owned, who drove and who trained when he won the 2 yr old championship...an d did he do anything at 3?

thanks if anyone can supply any info...if horseplop folks dont know...then no one knows

I vaguely remember the horse. IIRC, he was a killer 2yo in Chicago, virtually undefeated. I just don't remember the pedigree on him, but I remember Andy Miller driving him when he won the O&B.

that's awesome - thanks so much....after that race the announcer answered most of my questions as the horse was entering the winners circle...

Appreciate the info....a buddy of mine told me that the Springfield brothers, Jesse and James, broke this horse as a baby and brought him up north to sell him. The Springfield brothers did this every year - I know Harmer bought a few off them...the owner when Ascot Brandy won everything at 2 was Tanah Marah Farms in Delaware - I doubt they bought the horse from the Springfields...bu t who knows...I guess it's possible?

It is entirely possible as I remember they had horses with Erv Miller years ago, around that time.
