Monticello Raceway

Monticello raceway do more for the owners, drivers, trainers, and grooms!
When the sire stakes are hosted at Monticello the track should do things to bring people to the event!
They should also show appreciation to all the people at the raceway ! Even though numbers are very low!
One local business did just that the Villa Gaudio donated lunch for 125 people !
The raceway should be ashamed of themselves!
Thank you to the Villa Gaudio from many horse owners ,

Monticello has been struggling for over 30 years to produce a viable product. One saving grace was NYC OTB. It gave as much as 50% of Monticello's play on some days. It was a major reason Monticello could have a card of quarter claimers going for $1,200 and still give Yonkers a run for best overall handle.
I am amazed they are still in business at all.
The new casino has failed to produce a proprietary market and is cannibalizing Monti's wee share, reducing the VLT drop in half. I would not be surprised if they lasted another 30 years or closed tomorrow. Both scenarios make perfect sense.

I was driving my daughter home from college several months ago whenand she let me stop at the track since it was such a beautiful day. ..There were a total of 8 people watching the races including ourselves outside ..She actually felt bad for me as I was so excited to show her where I used to race almost 40 years ago ..it's amazing how there are zero fans left .

Was there Monday for the NYSS less than 25 people watching the races. Sad grandstand closed for good.

Better get that water truck fixed before visual observation of the races vanishes in a cloud of dust!
