Could Harness Racing replace NASCAR ?

First off, nobody in their right mind is moving to Alabama to race. Second, the Southern States would never allow a race track. A group has been trying to bring a brand new t-bred track to Atlanta for years with no political interest. And the biggest issue of all.....absolutel y nobody gives a fuck anymore about Harness racing except a few diehards. It’s a dead game as some on here say.

what a joy to spot a couple creative thinkers that, tho understandably not convinced, paused long enough to consider a prospect.  Honestly ??  why in the world hasn't the OHHA picked up a phone and called Fox Sports Ohio - they just might be giddy to have an option to Texas Hold Em on every damned break.  BUT, They're not gonna accept second grade w/ winners circle grooms that look like homeless bums, and amateurish operation.  The promotion requires sharp silks, w/ national advertisers  ,  a decent mascot horse walking around passing out premiums of value -- and, a fan club for the popular drivers w/ t-shirts / special sections and dinner w/ their driver.  Fact of the matter is Fox Sports is most desperate on holiday programming  -  if the tracks would create a real swell holiday T-Give and Christmas/New Year power race - the casino would benefit and fox might kick in for a purse that might just be beyond your Santa claus dreams.  HOWEVER, the go-power to get the ball rolling sadly rests in the hands of staid, old-timers that are locked in the 1970 Lebanon Raceway mentality of 'that's the way we've always done it'.

Yes. It's all just the powers that be, in most cases older in age, playing it safe, clinging to the status quo like grim death, hoping to milk whatever meager returns they can until they have to finally shut the lights out as the sport circles the bowl for the last time. Just selfishly protect what you  have with complete disregard for the future or greater good. Like Congress. No need for imagination, outside the box thinking, or trying to build toward a future, when they won't be around to benefit from it.

A snowball, outside in the sun here,lasting more than 5 seconds in August has more of a chance than harness racing has of happening in Texas. These are NOT "buggy", "wheelchair", "jughead", etc people. The few here who have actually seen a harness race laugh and say "how can those races NOT be fixed?". I've been to Lone Star and while they do simulcast harness races, good luck getting a program for it or getting it on a monitor. I asked about getting a program for the meadowlands, Hawthorne, Northfield or Yonkers and the lady looked stunned. She said they don't have those races here. I told her that they simulcast those tracks and she didn't believe me. Called the simulcast director and he said that while they did simulcast those places NO one ever bets those tracks. Said they take those signals in order for those tracks to take theirs. And he would see about getting me some sheets for those tracks. But he also said he doubted he could get any of them on a monitor. I just laughed and said that it was ok and not to bother.
