Yes, big stables get many things swept under the rug by delaying and appealing but that is mostly with positive tests. Even though a trainer is ultimately responsible for the results of a test, there is always a shadow of a doubt concerning his or her guilt. Excuses such as environmental contamination, groom's piss. someone else gave the horse the drug etc. However, in this case, Faurot has no defense. He was caught red handed and is guilty. What is he going to claim? He was holding the drugs and syringes for someone else? This isn't High School when your mom finds your pot. He is a small guy and he only ended up getting 90 days and a fine. He should have gotten much worse.
I agree with you Mike--however Faurot if he had the same legal help as say Burke and Allard for example-he would not be in the situation he finds himself in.
Allard for eg-has been kicked out of Canada+had multiple positives-with currently 2-3 under appeal(ive lost count)--yet he is going ahead full steam--why?? Because he has money.
Im not defending Faurot--but look at Renes beard Basilone--killed a horse left it behind barn-they found medications--yet she was still racing! What Faurot had/did was stupid and he deserves a severe penalty--BUT so do all the OTHERS!!! You should not hang Faurot-and give other scumbag big fish a pass.
That all Im saying--system is fucked.
