so me and a couple buddies were gonna take the trip to the closest indoors simulcast joint which happens to be the Dubuque Iowa dog track - which by the way is connected to the small but nice Q Casino - actually a decent place has horses - sportsbook - casino all in one place- went several times last year - they carry the signal for all the major flat tracks in addition to Mohawk Big M Northfield and Hawthorne -
looked at their schedule last night and noticed Hawthorne missing - thought maybe just an oversight so called their Director of Racing / Simulcast - a very nice older lady who's been on the job for many years...she told me they dropped hawthorne - which broke her heart to do because hawthorne was the very first horse track their dog track ever took on as a simulcast customer....
turns out hawthorne is past due on the money they owe the dog track - and she told me john Walsh, who she has been doing business with 20 plus years - will not acknowledge her emails or phone calls - when she found out I know who john is, she was glad to hear he's alive because she thought maybe something happened to him..
Just proof that hawthorne mgmt. team is a joke - don't care about the horse race business or where their signal doesn't go...theyre a second class operation with a bunch of incompetent goofs running the business....I told her I think they tryin to pay the bill - theyre stealing money from the bettors not making good on their GUARANTEED POOLS - so hopefully they'll get paid soon - and the few fans remaining in the galena / Dubuque iowa can get their signal back...
by the way - the lady says shes an avid reader of the plop - and asked if rocco would break some legs for a fee!!
