Choices killed harness racing. When harness racing was the only choice a person had to get some action at night, harness racing was quite popular.
It survived and grew in spit of corruption flat out fixing.
Today, there are far to many more exciting and faster ways to get you gambling fix. So, was harness racing ever a viable sport or just a vehicle for gambling?

A little of both. They got big crowds for big events. Cam Fella vs It’s Fritz was billed like a heavyweight title fight.
