IMHO
Delvin G. Miller The squire of Meadowlands, PA.
If you were a person wanting to move up in the business, then Delvin was the stable to go to. The list of graduates from his stable is endless. If you showed some desire and ability he would give you an opportunity.
Harry Harvey won the 1953 Hambletonia when he was a 2nd trainer for Delvin. What trainer today would dare put up their 2nd trainer to drive in The Hambo? Plus No less then 23 starters in the first heat.(yes 23 in the first of three heats) Harvey was 17th the first heat then won the next two. That was racing.
Tom Charters started out as a groom for Delvin and became a race sec. and President of The Hambletonian Society.
John Butenschoen groomed, 2nd trained, and drove for Delvin, and has is own large stable today.
Robert Yohn groomed, 2nd trained, and drove for Delvin and had his own stable, and was a many year director of The USTA.
I could list more, but I think you get the drift.
Plus Pompano training side in the winter.
