I just wrote to Mr Gural asking what the chemical composition of BB3 is, hopefully he writes back

According to the court records the indictment described BB3 as a customized "blood building" PED that when combined with intense physical exertion thicken a horse's blood. A horse doped with BB3 ran the risk of a heart attack, the indictment said.

Others have called it a Mimetic Peptide, so it imitates the effect of Peptides.  IMO It's most likely EPO with a molecule changed to make it untestable.
There are only 2 things that I know of that will thicken a horse's blood to nearly sludge and that is cobalt and EPO.
