Harrington Race 6
« on: September 09, 2024, 06:20:49 PM »
How as a judge can you not take the #2 down after going inside 2 pylons in last turn and then nosing out the 2nd horse at the wire? Just curious. Can someone explain the ruling and how you could not take this horse down and be place 3rd?

I just watched the replay several times and slowed it down. The judges probably thought the horse didn't gain an unfair advantage. Different tracks and judges have different interpretation of the rule.

in many states, if it wasnt two consecutive pylons they dont consider that a violation

not sure how Delaware has their rules

also-i have seen many posts about "gaining an advantage"--but in most cases--if the pylons were not consecutive--gaining or not gaining any advantage is irrelevant

technically you could inside every other pylon and as long as they were not consecutive that is alright by them

It was two consecutive pylons but its history now.

And they say cheating trainers and drivers are killing the sport! Well, Judges and racing commissions with their inconsistent rulings and penalties don't help. What do you need 3 judges for anyhow? 1 would do just fine with an assistant.

Freehold was one of the first tracks to have a passing lane and drivers weren't used to it. Back then, if you went inside the very 1st pylon in the stretch it was an automatic DQ.

i watched it again--it looked like three

sometimes the judges will say to avoid an accident and/or if another horse places him in a dangerous spot--they allow it
