ITS HARD TO POST HERE after reading a post like this,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,If anyone is a fan of todays racing outside of horsemen i would say that you need to check yourself in,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, It shows when a decent carryover comes up that people just want a air play and there is no fair play on WEG racing with horses every racing dropping huge in odds when leaving and holes given to all and horses moving over when tired in the stretch,,,,,,,,,,,,,Lets celebrate the new hall of fame inductee sylvain fillion and wegs super trainer Richard moreau because we must love this drug infested corrupt game that just produces unerlays galore,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Recently i was listening to a podcast with AIDEN OBRIEN and a top handicapper in england and Aiden said that horsemen that believe that their owner are happy winning races and loosing money is so backwards and today all horsemen believe everyone should lose money and love it including gamblers,,,,,,,The handicapper to me was brilliant as he said that horse racing can not survive unless we have winners and big winners that write books and teach others and that is how any successful venture works but the english bookmaking sites try to cut off all winners and no one is taking the game these days and the memory of Dancer and HOUGHTON TODAY ARE DEAD as to much ugly behavior has tainted this game,,,, i believe it is getting to the point that a five percent rake wont attract new gamblers and if you watch WEG races and its shit pre game show with clowns that talk to us like we are stupid you will see the future as bleak,,,,,,,,,Drugs today are only a small problem as many gamblers that like to spread and get the huge payoff no longer play and prices are getting smaller and smaller and the people running the game and this is hard to  believe are getting stupider,,,,,,,,,

YOUR A GOOD POSTER AND ONE OF A VERY FEW,,,,,,,,,,,,, aND I AM JADED, pEOPLE LIKE great CANADIAN CASINO running tracks,,,,,,,,,,Fraser downs 6 horse fields  and no pick up on track and next track Georgian downs with small fields and small prices and like FRASER no handle and next Flamboro downs with short fields no payoffs and a shadow of itself and last TB TRACK HASTING PARK with 7 races and very short fields and these tracks have converted players into slot players as there is no hope at any of these tracks and these are the decision makers in the game,,,,,,,,,,,Only horseman i can think of these days that should be in the hall of fame is Roger Mayote and his family as they are true hall of famers,,,,,

i too can remember the good ole days
sure some of us older fellas can waste 4 hours for a ten race card i guess but most folks are not
sports gambling is taking the  lot of wagering dollars, you dont really need to understand it , just have a favorite team or opinion, you can pretty much bet whenever you want and you know exactly what the odds and payout are
harness racing has not caught on yet, still doing what they did in 1980 when they had no competition only doing it worse now
hard to see a way out going forward

Nothing worse than betting a basketball game and your team is up by double digits most of the game, and is easily going to cover, but you end up losing your bet at garbage time because all the regulars are on the bench.

To start with racing today can not be fixed and 100 percent will die,,,,,,,,,,,,,If you watch any pre game show like SHAQ AND BARKLEY IN BASKETBALL you will enjoy the honest banter and if they believe someone is not that good they will tell you and if the refs make a bad call they will talk about it and that would be the same in every sport but in harness racing we see stuck up bullshitters like RANDY and CHAD WITH no sense of humour and very poor handicappers that do not show up on their days off,,,,,,,HARVEY PACK AND HOLLYWOOD HEYDON lived the game and would not spend 5 minutes telling you why OHIO STATE should beat DUKE AS THATS A given the job of these people is to bring in new people and to point out why 14-1 makes a certain horse value but because these people are hired by people who dont play you get poor people everywhere in racing,,,,,,,,,,,,DANCER,,,,HAUGHTON,,,,J HAYES JR,,,,,,,JACK KOPAS ALL HAVE been replaced by BURKE AND BURKE type people,,,,,,,,,,,,,,THIS GAME NEEDS PAYOFFS and it needs to make memories and memories is the big score and today those people are gone and chalk players that are aged people are the ones left,,,,,,,,,,Memories come from something that is pure and todays racing is not pure and not run with excitement by the drivers,,,,,,,,,,,,The game has no hero that brings in new people and the interviews with drivers put me to sleep,,,,,,,,,,,,,The one person they try to make us think is a hero AMAC IS A ZERO,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

As for honest banter, I think Waples gives you some of that but I take your point that a racing personality that doesn't give a shit what they say sounds like a great idea.  Now, the salary to not give a shit, may not be enough to lose friends over at Mohawk.   Shaq makes enough to slag his mother.
I'm not sure how much you listen to Waples, but I've heard him many times go off the chalk board and support 8 -1 horses and higher and give his reasons why.  Not sure why I hear it and you don't.  Maybe because I'm not a gambler and my only interest is to hear what he has to say about my horses.
When you say pure, I assume you don't mean clean, but rather that drivers today are too close to each other and not willing to race each race like they don't have to race against them again tomorrow and the next day and the next etc etc.   I'm not sure about all this leaving a hole shit.  Sometimes I see a guy give up a hole to a better horse, but my mind goes to the best thing I can do for my horse is let him in and if I'm good enough, I can sit on his helmet and stick with him all the way to the finish line. 
So from all of that, I hear 2 things  .....   1)  more exciting, risk taking commentators, that can tell it like it is with a bit of personality.  Sounds good to me.
2)  Judges to be given the power and push to discipline buddy buddy racing.  If they can judge it correctly, I'm in, but I think it would be hard to confidently confirm that it wasn't a valid racing strategy.   But if they can, slam the driver big time with escalating fines. 

I'm with you on both those ideas.

I think if the answers of drivers questioned about drives and strategies would be transcripted and made public would help.  Or better yet get a mic in their face immediately after and get the raw answer without days to think about it.  How cool would that be to put them on the spot. I'd respect them if they owned up and were honest , most will blame the horse I'm sure
