It was posted here---and I don't remember how many, who, or whatever---that there was a scheduled auction, being run by Heritage. I called Heritage and they knew nothing about it. I spoke with their Director of Auction Operations and he said they were not retained and were not running an auction for Freehold Raceway. I posted this on the day I called.
That said, if the Landy family---or anyone else---is interested, it would be foolish to have an auction. You have an auction for complete liquidation purposes and to rid the facility/land of equipment, so you can sell the land free of "waste" (what would then be considered waste as the buyer would have to pay money to remove/dispose of it). If they have hopes to sell it for continued use as a track, sports betting, whatever, it is worth more to sell as is, even if someone wants to buy new and start again. That is a negotiation point in the sale. You are giving the buyer options, their choice.
If Landy is interested, I don't know their motives, but partial development would most probably be part of the equation.
