Is Chris Loney still around? Training? I see he drives the occasional one here and there, on occasion for his brother Rock. Is Chris' son, Brian (and his wife), still shooting big numbers?

The wife is listed as trainer and I've always assumed that Chris is very involved with the training behind the scenes.
Her numbers are decent, barn goes hot and cold like several others in Ohio  11.wp

The father Chris has nothing to do with this stable.  Nothing and never will.

Thanks. I haven't spoke with Chris in about a hundred years. I first met him when he was a private trainer working for Sam Butler (and his partner, I forgot his name, but I think it was Emmet or something like that). He had a pretty good two old colt named Sticky Two Step and I tried to buy him. Sam didn't want to sell. We ended up becoming quasi-friends. Anyway, I stayed in touch with him through the years and when he became a public trainer. Years later, I ended up selling him a horse, a 3yo pacing filly. I reconnected with him back in the 90's when he came to the Meadowlands with a few horses.

His sons were little kids at the time. I know Brian (and his wife) got really hot for a bit in Ohio and then back in KY. I think Brian ended up with a positive test or three, and I think at some point, then the wife, (Harla) Renae was listed as the trainer. Chris' brother Rock was a character. He was a trainer-driver as well and he sold a good colt to Lou Guida a hundred years ago.

I haven’t seen Chris in 25 years but I have friends that speak to him.  They tell me he is “a mess”.  Bad health and can’t drive much anymore.  I don’t know much about Rock other than he is an auto toss wagering wise.

The way it has always been. If he can't get the proper dope, they can't go. He has been a dope trainer his whole life. Now that Belcher is licensed, I doubt Loney will be a high % wining trainer again.
His daddy was a good horseman but, could not stay off the Meth. Also cheated most of his life.
