Unfair?
« on: July 27, 2020, 03:32:00 PM »
Why should a horse breaking behind the starting gate that causes interference to another horse that causes a recall get to start the race (after the recall) with no penalty. After all, he not only broke, interfered with another horse AND caused a recall because of the interference. But again, he gets to reline up on the second go around with total impunity. This just doesn't seem right? Opinions please!

Either deal with it or find another sport. Is it fair no. As soon a horse breaks before the word "go" is given, the horse should be removed from the wagering pool(Refund) and scratched! Driver should automatically return back to the paddock!

Is this ever going to happen, Probably not!

I believe the horse should be given a stern 'talkin to' and be sent a sharply worded letter to that same effect. tmbz1

Because it may not be that easy to determine if he actually was at fault--then that could hold up the start of the race for the other horses while the officials confer.  It is what it is.  Like the man said- they are horses not cars and besides horses have won races or hit the board when they broke behind the gate.  Not likely, but it does happen.

It is to great good, the horse gets a restart. The pool is adjusted and refunded, the horse and the connections get a chance to earn. And, it is not done with impunity. There are consequences to breaking and causing a recall.

At some point, you got to move shit along.

Some of us got more to do than just watch Wheel of Fortune, bet a $2 Double at Yonkers and go to bed by 8.

He is on the Stewarts list. If it happens next start, the horse is bared from entry until he has a flat and successful qualifier.

Back in the day, the Judges were more involved and might ask for more to clear him to re-enter.
