Heard today that Hawthorne is requesting 9 months of harness next year and three months of thoroughbred for 2023. We'll find out on Sept. 22.

Careys enjoy another year of full recapture, dark days, and OTB money. More race dates at Springfield paid by Hawthorne than dates at Hawthorne. Who is going to bet day racing at Springfield? Saturday night championship races handled 745k. A Friday night at Maywood before it was bulldozed down would handle more. At least a 1.0mln less than Balmoral SN. The purse account currently as of 7/30 sits at -1.2mln. As far as a casino and whatever the splits are between thoroughbred and harness and someone correct me if I'm wrong it's 60/40 thoroughbreds? Will be far far less than anyone thought as this project is now three years pass as a Chicagoland casino will be up and running sooner. At least a small venue before the full construction of a new one is built. Besides the small demographic around Hawthorne who will make it a priority to go there or just travel another 20 miles to a mega casino?

That idea is deader than Phil Langley. No more Tinsley Park. He doesn’t know what to do now

  • Albatross77: My cat, Charles Bukowski, wrote it. You will have to ask him but he’s passed out from a three-day bender. I think he’s off his meds too.
