The great Euro countries when exploration began, claimed and colonized Asia, Africa, So America and even N American Canada and Mejico.  Over time, those possessions broke the hold of Grt Britain, Spain, France et al.  BUT, that decision left them to fend for themselves financially and for defense in exchange for no longer paying  a tax/tithe to the Monarchies.   The situation in Ukraine is relative to those arrangements of 500 years ago.  If Ukraine expects the might of the USA for protection, they need to promise a reciprication of repayment and product.  Fair or not, that's the way the game is played.  Over time, the USA has changed the global strategy and almost seems to look round for an area ripe for butting in, asking nothing in return 

Should we provide assistance to Ukraine - YES. 
Should we be in charge of the battle plan - YES. 
Should we have fair expectation of offset for the military armaments  -  YES.

What a piece of garbage DeSantis has become. He takes on the most ridiculous situations. He ignores the Constitution and then FL judges reverse a lot he pushes through. His take on vaccines is so stupid I don’t know where to begin. He tells every naive person how he kept Florida open during the worst of the pandemic. It’s true if you count the beaches but little else. Huge numbers of businesses closed their doors for good. He takes on Disney who most people love and employs the most private employees in the state. And why because Disney doesn’t employ 100% straight people. Congrats DeSantis, Disney decided not to invest millions and millions of dollars because of this idiot’s private war. And who wants to be an educator in Florida’s public schools any longer? Governor Moron takes on teachers, librarians and students for not doing exactly what he wants. Once people really get to know the facts about this demigod the odds will jump to 1,000-1 to become President.
