Hawthorne Does a Record Low Handle Saturday Night
« on: October 23, 2023, 10:27:24 AM »
$244k - never has a chicagoland area harness card done less - embarrassing...

Their Sunday handle by far has been their best business night - and Friday nights have easily outperformed Saturday nights every week except for Super Night...

So, finally the 2 wizards who run that joint Jim miller and john walsh have figured out maybe the reason sundays do much better is lack of competition...and they will start racing on mondays in a couple weeks - of course. instead of switching from saturday to monday these two birdbrains decide to switch from friday to monday...

it's been a very slow and painful story to watch as a longtime fan of chicago racing...the demise of chicago area racing,,,sad

It all started with the johnsons bribing blago and the snowball effect ever since. He both duke and Johnny would be in jail if they didn’t rat out blago to save their own asses. Really sad story how they took down Chicago harness racing. If you added Johnny and dukes IQ it wouldn’t total 23. Billy Johnson is turning over in his grave because he couldn’t buy his way out of what the boys did to the family empire.
Johnny Johnson fucked up Chicago harness racing. I hope you die !!!!

It's difficult to not have harness racing for an entire year and then bring it back and expect handle to be where it was last year.

My guess is 2025 will be the last year of harness racing at Hawthorne, and Illinois racing will be officially done aside from summer racing at fairs & Springfield.

Very sad.

They always seemed to do pretty good on the weekends, if for no other than reason than to get some of the late night / west coast money.....
Wow - that's a terrible handle.

The backstretch is a total shithole. There has been absolutely no electricity on the backstretch
for a couple of days now and it might continue through the weekend. In addition, there are NO
serviceable vets working on the backstretch as horsemen are forced to ship to get any vet
work done. Where are the IRB and the IHHA to provide protection for the horsemen?????
