Not what your thinking Lance... But, after the YR accident last week, would it not be safer and more practical to have a composite frame race bike opposed to metal, not just for weight but safety measures as well.

I don't believe so. In a perfect world composite frame bikes would be great--however they are expensive, and, in a crash, they shatter--which could end up being fatal in a harness horse race. I remember when wheels had carbon spokes to make them lighter and if a horse foot hit it--they shattered, collapsed-- and were banned.
Maybe we should go back to the "Single Shafts".
Why would you want one shaft when you could have two. I’m just glad they don’t go back to wood…sometimes when a wood shaft gets wet it gets soft.
