Only driver there is Morril . Rest could just as well wash Bret’s bike. He’s only the 2nd leading dash driver and soon to be the youngest to win driver of the year. He’s such a tremendous talent. I liked how he drove at Tiagoa and didn’t slash away with the whip, as you can do there. Just a great presence on the track
Card notes and observations:
Race # 1 was an excelsior event. Beckwith missed (broke) at the gate, so throw this out. Kevin Cummings with a 2-hole trip with a "passing lane" and a 'long stretch' and the favorite @ 4/5 pulls pocket in the far turn. Cost himself 2nd! Horrible drive!
Race # 2 'The Beat Goes On' for the favorites! Morrill Jr. at 6/5 with the 5 hole gets a 3-hole tuck early. Out at the 1/2-mile pole to no avail. Still finished 3rd showing how bad the rest of the horses/drivers are. The race was actually competitive at the 5/8 pole with 4 in and 3 out (nearly double decked).
Race # 3 excelsior. A very patient drive by Beckwith at EVEN money. A 'speed duel' up front didn't help the cause early. Decision time down the backstretch as to tip out and go 3 deep or stay dow low at the pylons? Made the right choice at the pylons. 'Long stretch' helped the cause immensley.
