Why Does Tioga Stay Open
« on: June 30, 2024, 02:47:16 AM »
The betting pools are a joke. No halfway serious bettor would place a bet here. In their Saturday night Open Trot feature the Exacta pool was $1,033, The Triple pool was $491 and the Superfecta pool was $277. Can you imagine if the four longest shot horses came in 1-4, you have the only winning Superfecta ticket and it pays $200 for a $2 bet? I don’t care about the casino subsidy it is a horrible business decision to throw good money at such a losing proposition. Clearly the harness racing fans both locally and via simulcast could care less if Tioga closes.

And guys like you don't ever want it questioned since it's someone else's money you're always racing for. AKA Welfare.  ngc3

Perfect venue for a large number of horse to race weekly in a great environment. Close to a number of other tracks in the event you need to ship out to race also.

Exactly. It doesn't. Tioga has a full gaming license. Read and take notice what is not mentioned. There is no requirement to have racing with a full gaming license. Does Rivers have racing? The real question is what happens after Gural is gone. He's already made the deal on the property. His family wants no part of racing.

I feel if this were true-he would have never built a racetrack there.

Why doesnt he close it down instead of crying poor mouse?

He built the track and racino long before obtaining the full gaming license he cried for. Remember there were only three. He was left out and lobbied for a fourth.

yes i remember

were they coupled in 2006?

did the track help him get a gaming license?

if not Gural made huge mistake attempting to invest in to the future of harness racing racing at Tioga and Vernon

Coupled as a “racino”
Now it’s a casino.
Gural loves harness racing and doesn’t mind losing $80,000 dollars per race date.
What happens after he ‘retires’? DON’T KNOW. But time will tell.

He seemed to be enjoying himself Sat and Sun. But then, I see things through vodka colored glasses.
Reread It
