Can someone please do the math on how it pays to be "out of the money". Not that the purses are great but with tiny pools it makes zero sense.
For example. Northfield on Sunday and Monday evenings handles around $1 million for 14-16 races. Some races the handle is 50-70k. Tri pool between 20-30k exacta usually around 20k. That a lot of cash to rob out of a race if you are 1/5 and you blast the horse down the road intentionally to be off the board. You can make at a track like Mohawk where the handle is way over 100,000 bet per race. And lots of drivers get “lost” at that track.

For the longest time Merriman was under the thumb of certain people so he would drop anchor every once in a while and not hit the ticket.

I agree with Jenny. Aaron is a good dude. He would help anyone who needs it and he's most certainly not "fixing" races. He just has a nasty monkey on his back. But it's his money and he doesn't have a family to support
How do you know he’s not going “dead” occasionally? Do you have access to his phone? Do you follow him around attached at the hip 24/7? I am not privileged to any of that info. But as a longtime horse bettor. I see borderline suspicious payoffs from time to time. Carrot top Merriman may not “rip em” and gamble on several races a night. But you are naive to think he “never” goes dead. The wagering payoffs don’t lie.
