Yonkers last night
« on: September 22, 2024, 01:42:55 PM »
First race pool totals:

$1.00 Exacta  3/5 $16.30  $2,902.40
$1.00 Trifecta  3/5/2 $54.50   $3,184.66
$0.10 Superfecta  3/5/2/1  $13.25  $1,543.10

They barely scraped $300K for a 12 race card.
What the hell happened? Their handle is literally down 50% over the last couple of years. It's alarmingly sad.

Way to go

Full of horse abusers, killers and crooks. Every single trainer and driver is a crook.

Younkers and Mohawk two worst tracks in
racing for single file racing.
Race the last 1/4 only.
When someone does get parked it is most
likely the new guy on the block.

I made my bones on NY half-mile track racing. YR and RR. By the time the Meadowlands opened, I was hammering win bets and exactas and very much picking my spots, and occasionally betting into some picks but it was getting harder and harder over time. I also concentrated on major stakes races. For me, I wanted full and competitive fields and large pools to bet into, and a competitive take-out. Yes, rebates became very important, I am not saying no, but this was way back, and I was live, on-track back then.

Today is a very, very different game. YR has very strong purses, but the facility sucks, and that's because people don't have to go there. Owners like racing there, but they hate going there. It's a shame. Rooney turned their back on racing when they got the casino. Today I don't bet there at all. Rarely. Very rarely.

I would rather stick my cock in a minnow trap than watch or wager on Yonkers.
