No one is beeeding to 7k pacing mates
You are 100% wrong on this. Claiming races, even cheap ones, are great places to grab a mare for breeding. Sometimes you see one with breeding and back class dropping even lower than $7,000. I would rather have a well bred mare who raced tough and had a career than a blue blood who never hit the track. Three things you look for when you shop for a broodmare in the claiming races. #1 SIZE. If they have size and bulk, you're on the right track. #2 Back class. Even a little. You have to remember that most fillies do not make it to the races. If you see a mare in $5,000 claiming and she was once in $25k claiming, and she has earned, you're on the right track. #3 Good sires top and bottom. They don't have to be the top sires, but they should be reliable stallions. The sire of the dam is actually a little more important than the sire. Let me tell you, there are a of of cheap claiming mares out there who could have great careers as breeding stock. I would not hesitate to breed a big mare by Cams Cardshark out of a Big Towner dam if she meets my #1 #2 ans #3 criteria. All this 3x4 and 4x4 and cross matching and stallion selection tables are pure bullshit. What's the deal, 90% of the SELECT yearlings never make a nickel and somebody put a lot of effort in to that mating. Like someone said, it's a crapshoot, but you can give yourself a shot if you know what to buy. The real truth is that anyone who buys and breeds to get a horse needs to have their head examined.
She was exceptional today down the stretch. Finished third
Nine hole against the boys and finished a second behind the winner. She was a little better then good and maybe not exceptional. A good tightener before the first sire race in 8 days. I'm sure owners and trainer happy with outcome.
Finished third but we were very happy how she did it. Thanks hf
