Local weather still saying it's going to stop raining by early evening tomorrow.  We're lucky it's not tonight.  The wind's howling outside of my door, the rain is coming down, and the temp is 60.  Happy September 1 in Ohio!

And if I am reading correctly, they don't have a grandstand for the average fans to sit, Seating will be a terrible problem which I hope causes several fans to stay home as the track
mis management has shown they have no concerns for fans, just the horse owners and dignitaries whom I am sure have seats available to them in the clubhouse.

Chris Beaver trained horses + Detention Barn = many beaten favorites.

Are there standard rules for when the state Racing Commissions couple entries in races?  Or is it just hit and miss?  The Beaver entries- three- are coupled in the one race tomorrow night.  Another race (2 year old filly trot) has horses with the same owner and they're not coupled.   Was at Scioto for the last Sires Stakes series of trotters in some group a couple of weeks ago and a two horse favorite entry just about got shut out of hitting at all.  Photo finish for show by one of the coupled horses with the horse that I bet on.  Three-quarters of the Show pool was wagered on the Entry.  The coupled horse ended up getting show in the photo, but that would have been a heck of a Show payout if he hadn't.

BPO, some racing commissions have it that stake races over 100k with horses trained with same ownership have to be coupled. Some have gone away with coupling in overnight races since the industry has scaled down so much and there are so many multi owned partnerships. That it's best for handle not to have entries. Seems the the Meadows a couple years ago put in the Burke rule except for the preferred and opens. Just one entry of common ownership per overnight race so there are no couple entries and fuller races to wager on. Not sure if that answers your question. Also about Pet Rock it's not odd to see a sire have a season with standouts of one sex over the other. Remember Swan for All first crop had good fillies and duds for Colts. The following year just the opposite. Donato Hanover first two crops had better fillies then colts, Powerful Emotion in IL threw good colts but few and far between a decent filly. And Muscle Hill seems to throw on average of course far better sons then daughters so far.

I don't have much of a shot but still exciting going for $250,000 for a little guy. Good luck to all.

Just wait until one horse in the entry coupled or not interferes with another horse in the race and you have a inquiry/objection (how long will the inquiry/objection take?)!

Then the fun will break loose and you might see a very unhappy owner (see Pompano Park super night years ago)!

That Pompano race only went for 50k or 60k.

Rain is supposed to end by 5:30 this evening here in Columbus.  The Scioto track usually drains pretty well.  It's been weird to watch all day and you can tell that the rain is from Harvey- even up this way the radar shows it swirling around in a circular pattern.
