Oosting was 40 years old before he got his 1000th win.

So he wasn't very good to start with.

All those Chicago wins were driving for juicing trainers against inferior competition.

Not to mention the boat races and gambling against himself.

Similar to Luke Plano thinking he can drive outside of his Cal-Fixpo driver colony.
