I personally don't see anything wrong with this...so they are being a bit cute to get the horse there on their biggest night of the year. FA will be a bigger story than anyone in the Gerrity, and with the horse actually getting a bit of national publicity now maybe some T-bred people will make their way over to check him out. It's not like any race they write him into will automatically be a cakewalk at this point in his career.
This is a track PROMOTION and, for one, the promotion is about racing not a petting zoo for kids. The money Foiled Again is racing for is meaningless and the trainers do not have to enter if they don't like the race conditions. There is no guarantee he will win. All the race conditions do is make for a competitive race. That is the idea isn't it? I'll bet if they somehow wrote the conditions so Foiled Again did not get any purse money you would still complain.
So Foiled Agains owners should get purse money for a race he truly does NOT deserve to be eligible for. Squeezing EVERY penny out of an animal. WHY not donate ALL money made by the horse to a horse retirement fund. It DEFINITELY is not fair to the other horses he races against. Why don't they write a $5 claimer and have that same also eligible condition to it? Then the horse might win easily. It's a sham. Kind of like watching Joe Namath and when he played for the Rams. Painful to watch a great athlete struggle to perform at the levels people expect them too. And for your theory of other trainers not entering against him, WHY should THEY have to sit out a week and miss an opportunity to make money and pay THEIR bills?
u think the race secretary knows the horses..then ur as dumb as they comerace secretarys are morons
We can debate what the ownership group of Foiled Again does with any money he might earn. The bottom line is this race was written as a competitive race given Foiled Again's current ability. Nobody is forcing anyone to enter the race. Whatever happens to the purse money (which is insignificant to the Foiled Again owners), this is good for harness racing. Many real fans will be glad for the opportunity to see him race.
CAN YOU GIVE US AN OVER/UNDER ON CROWD ATTENDANCE? WHAT SHOULD WE EXPECT TO SEE DURING THIS EPIC EVENT?
Why do you even bother to follow harness racing?
WHY in the fuck would ANY thoroughbred people come to a harness track to see a harness horse who is WAY past his prime?
because there is nothing else to do in saratoga after the thoroughbreds run. what go to the performing arts center, lincoln baths, some overpriced restaurant. harness track located across the street from the backstretch. you used to be able to eat off the floor there, doubt it now. but they have vlt's and the rest of the del mar card.
