If this is the case this is a bad deal for the Breeders Crown to reimburse Pocono for the difference. It could be upwards to $500,000 for the reimbursement. If Pocono was smart they would continue the 15% takeout across the board until the end of the year which would be three weeks, then assess the takeout % for the up and coming season.
They should never have a major racing event like this at a track with take out as high as the Pennsylvania tracks.
Agreed what idiots picked this track People wonder why it's dying fucking peabrains in charge
It is preferred because the surface produces fast fractions, fast final times, fast final quartersthats what the industry, the owners, the breeders, and the fans ALL want--meaningless speed marksPocono provides that false euphoria , that bragging right in some bar, to say my horse went 150--even though that mark is now accomplished by $5k claimersEveryone stares at the fractions, the final times, the soft middle halves, etc, etc....so thats what the industry provides...that is, fast times that mean nothingThe above description also is the Lexington meet...fast times for breeders and owners
Good points another bad metric still be using by hillbillies How often do tbreds refernce race times? NEVER
this has nothing to do with Pocono They were ask to go down to 15% they said no so the breeders made an deal to drop the takeout to 15% and pay Pocono the difference
I watch plenty of English racing on TVG--times are NEVER mentioned by the track announcer, or the commentatorsThis "time" brain blockage is from the 70s---wooden bikes--back then time was a major factor, as was post positionModern day pharmaceuticals, super high octane gas trainers, the modern bikes, the intentionally designed surfaces for fast times....all of that has rendered final times basically unimportant--yet still the industry--more importantly--the aging fan base, breeding outfits, sales folks...they are all stuck in the 70s..because they saw the slow times back then and now they see these times of today and they simply fall in love with the clock all over againIts quite bizarreIs it that important for owners to tell their friends or their social media that you have a 150 pacer/trotter?--even though that mark is also outdated?
