Race 1 - #6 JK Mardi Says - arrived at Mohawk August 16, in advance of the Eternal Camnation (August 25). Didn’t seem up to Key West, who has already been in 1:51.1. She was 1-for-1 after an odds-on triumph at Pocono, was a $130K yearling, and she’s the first foal of a $374K winning mare. Mom is a full sister to JK Endofanera ($2.1 million) and the filly JK Shesalady ($972K), etc. She took on elders, MJ made a stab and gave up, finishing 7th on the 16th. They must have given up on the EC but instead of heading back home, she pops up in this basic 2YO F race. Marcus and Nancy don’t have any other horse on the program. Her first two HE numbers are 74 and 79, and #1 has paced an 82 and #3 has paced an 87. I think Marcus gets more aggressive here and they see how fast she can go this time. Saver with #2, a nice firster recently transferred to CA from CC.
Thestable has two interesting ones on the card. Race 4, #5 Sunshine’s Finest, a very fast 2yo taking on a field of slow 3yos looks like a single. Then Race 3, #8 Arvika, a 2yo Trixton filly, who they said was one of thestable’s best this year, starts her career against a nice field, including an expensive Toscano/Brittany Farms Father Patrick filly, #2 Sisters Promise.
So tentative P5 looks like 26 w 13 w 28 w 5 w ALL.
