In that article is Natalie Rasmussen betting on a horse other than the one she was driving but when she bet it, she did not have a drive in the race but someone had asked her to drive a little later.

22] The final New Zealand case was RIU v Rasmussen, 18 December 2015. Ms Rasmussen bet on two horses in races in which she was driving and on one occasion she drove a horse other than the one on which she had placed the bet. She was also prohibited from accepting that drive without the approval of a Stipendiary Steward, given that she had bet on the race. The Committee found her actions were the result of an oversight — she placed one of the bets at a time when she did not plan on participating in the race, and forgot to notify the Stipendiary Stewards after she accepted the drive, and she acted in ignorance when she placed a second bet on the horse she was driving in another race. Ms Rasmussen was fined $3,750 in total.

This is part of that major race fixing operation.

Years back when many would head over to the Mohawk Inn after the races this one night Randy Waples came in and sat down with us and you could tell he just snorted coke, the guy was motor mouth. After awhile someone near us said hey Waples nice tip, do us a favour and don't tell us. Then Waples pulls out a 100.00 win ticket on the winner and shows us. That race and tip Waples drove and finished up the track and he bet Jamieson who won the race.

jockeys are worse at this than drivers, i will never put any rider up on my horses who:

a. rides for another owner or trainer almost exclusively either under contract or not
b. take the mount without first getting on'em at least one time for a gallop or breeze
c. has a conflict of interest in the race in question (girlfriend, etc)

Unless you have a stakes caliber horse, this isn't happening at good tracks.


I agree about the conflict thing. My buddy has a few lower end claimers. Had one going good.  Lists one jockey but conflicted out so got a replacement. Horse breaks great and is running good, jockey slams on brakes around backstretch. Comes back and says "horse needs blinkers".

Next start out horse gets 2nd with different jockey but claimed.

First start off claim for outfit original jockey rides for and the horse wins by daylights with jockey who said horse needed blinkers--no blinkers added either.
