Should Horse Owners pay for their training bill in advance
« on: June 02, 2019, 12:44:41 PM »
I really think that it would be in the best interest of the game if owners paid their training bill before the month starts.
The trainers take on a tremendous responsibility with our horses and the more pressure we can take off them the better their ability to take care of our horses can be.
It's like anything else, it can separate you from the bad owners who think the trainers, vets, feed and blacksmiths are banks.
We can do the sport a lot of good if we can get a good amount of owners to pay in advance and take pressure off the entire industry.

Just my opinion and something I like to practice.

I have been thinking about it.  Trainers might have to go to more flat rates to make it easier to do. I do not think its ideal they have to front that much money.  Especially stakes payments too.

Pay ahead would be great, just like any other business, (cable, phone, elec. etc.) Just think how many trainers would not get stiffed. At least pay a daily rate each month ahead, then extras (shipping, vet etc.) the following month. A lot of people are on deals so they do't get shit anyway.

Trainers are making a ton of money as it is

I think the sport is close if not at an all time high of trainers being owners
Not saying there is anything wrong with this

But it seems as though the common says we need more “new blood” in the sport and with trainers being owners, it puts a huge barrier to entry in new participants in the sport

Again nothing wrong with this just my opinion
Nothing but experience stopping anyone from becoming a trainer

Good luck getting the money back from a trainer after you paid for the month and your horse gets claimed week one of the month.

Most of today's trainers have deals with the owners. Trainer gets % of purse for no training bills. Its not like the old days boys & girls.

That's a stupid idea, the trainers are screwing every owner into the ground with training bills. Many
trainers don't see the horse unless their is issue with the horse. Second trainers do all the work
and make megure wagers, then the Trainer running the show pockets all the cash. Any horseman
can jog a horse , clean a stall, feed the horse, and train down a horse.Vets, shoeing,. hauling,an
care costs plus megure wages then they inflate the bill by 60%.I hope these crooks will get
there's, when the the last race is run in the US. To all hot dog trainers Waist Management is
hireing.
