scarborough could continue for a while. they could also be more profitable if the place were not such a dump. most of the money goes into the terry family bank account. the few employees get min wage. spend a little. get lights back in. summer nights at the downs were great. beach crowd. somewhat of a live handle. cutting the race dates has not been a help. only reason the fields have been better is a few of our super trainers have unlimited horses to race. remove bo and his horses for one and see what would happen. send signal out. bangor is a bettable track. handles four times as much because the signal goes out.

I dont think Bangor handles that much??but not sure...cant see Penn Gaming renewing contract at 4% as they got there head handed to them with oxford opening......and I believe the horseman get less than 1%?????....so with that being said dont see a bright future for harness racing in maine..

getting the ADWs to pick up the signal should be priority #1

how obvious can that be?

if the Terry family is pocketing that Bangor cash that’s horrible... as mentioned they could fix the place up and try and help

must not have a black box in Maine... Bo Sowers gassed anything that moves
he once sent a trailer of his better horses to Dover/Rosecroft about 2-3 years ago and every one.. about 7 at both track combined , had TCO2 levels through the roof.... Dover booted him the next day

The kid McGuire ain’t bad... too bad he only drives for pop

the reason that it isnt closing is the downs is one of the approved sports gambling venues in the bill that the governor hasnt signed yet. they wont close with that on the table.

scarborough handle is lucky to hit 20000 and bangor in july was average close to 50 000 so i was a bit off on 4 times the handle but at least a few grand in the tri pools at bangor.   i do think that sports betting on the horizon is a factor in scarborough staying open. i also think for a while at least, there is no hurry to do anything right where the track sits. bulding around it first.

  • rainman2: yes---as i said earlier  more important things than political differences.  betting and owning horses among other things.  many other people in the world have gone through the same exact thing.  people have to learn from these experiences instead of harboring ill-will from them.  The world is screwed up because of thes things.
