STORM: You really need to spend some time learnin how to handicap. Now, grant it I'm not a STANDARD player.
But your statement. Favorites win only 1/3 of time is foolish. They be a lot of races where the chalk is OUTSTANDIN. You single them in HORIZONTALS or VERTICLES.
I'm sure I just lost you on that.
But your thinkin at times could be right but MINIMAL.
I played DEL MAR place all THURSDAY. Just so you understand. Whoever you bet can finish 2nd and you still win. If your selections over course of 8 races come in 1st or 2nd, you then multiply on final payoff.
My ticket was $16.00. I singeled 2 races. A 2-5 and a 3-5. Both pulled up. 7 of 8 won the bet. It paid $740.00.
I will admit. If both came in the payoff would have been a lot lower. A LOT LOWER. But more than $16.00.
But when one plays tickets like this, you have to single. You must choose. And one can't bitch when heavy chalks are pulled up,or can one.
Just a lesson for you. You can't depend on all price horses to win carryovers or guarrenteed pools.
When I started handicappin 39 years ago, first thing I did was go to library and read all books on it. Then developed my own angles. You need to know everything. Not sayin I'm the BEST,but I'M right there.
YOU seem young and a NOVICE. BOOKS on STANDARDS,I don't know. I am a TB with different distances and grass. You have advantage. Races all a mile. Short stretches and long. Pic a track and follow. Learn why pony did not win. UP in class or road problems. Post position sucks. See if they ran same day but different races. Check to see in other races if they ran against common horses.
There's a lot YOU have to put into it if you expect to win. I don't know breedin in STANDARDS. But I sure do in thorobreds. DISTANCES,TRACK SURFACE and GRASS.
You got a lot to learn, besides FAVORITES only WIN 1/3 of time.
