Last I heard no slots til Sept of 2020. Another year of paying recapture. Sports betting should be soon? It's interesting that IL past sports wagering in July and then was signed. IN jumped in on this a month ago and has sports betting up and going while IL doesn't. Only reason Harness is going earlier because they race at night. Construction will be taking place all winter and spring getting the slots area constructed so no spring thoroughbred meet. Don't expect much as purse changes and they may dip with a longer meet. Harness handle was God awful this year and Night of Champions handle was 770k. Pathetic at least Balmoral SN was double that.

When they added the RICO charge to the Johnny Johnston potential bride that was never given was the death sentence to Balmoral and Maywood. Price tag owed was over 100mln. Nobody was stepping in to help that situation. IL has a new track that will be built and it's in a nice area. Balmoral was middle of nowhere and Hawthorne isn't in a favorable area

If anytrack should have been saved it should have been sportsmanspark from JJ crooked ass thats a shame thateveryone forgets how great harness was on those summer nights with 30k in the stands watching boom boom an magee go at it an tony morgan crying he isnt getting the mounts!!!! The landscape continues in one direction...downh ill. If you took away the government subsidy to ON and if racinos purged horses off the grounds by decoupling what would the landscape look like? Hawthorne had a dismal handle this season and their Night of Champions on average  garner 60kper race. Awful! Even in racino states breeders are breeding less. OH and IN breed a lot less from their sugar high after a few off the new gaming deal. There are a lot less new owners in the game and when you go to the sale, prices are so high on the better horses. Because groups of 5 and 6 are partnering up and spreading ownership on more horses with having a smaller %. Fans at the track....I'll stop right there  . IL has such a saturation issue with casinos and slots scattered at every gas station and bar I will be surprised how many patrons become loyal after the newness wears off or Chicago gets there mega entertainment casino. 20 miles or less from Hawthorne and 35 miles from Tinley. The only reasin someone is entertaining a new harness race track is in to addition all the slots owned at Ricky Rocket gas stations, he is getting another 1,200. The only reasons the Johnston's stuck around was 1,200 Balmoral slots and Maywood 900.
